Sunday Message

"WALK WITH ME"

1 Pet 5:8

OPENING PRAYER

Almighty God, Father and Creator, thank-You for gathering us together this Holy Day in fellowship to worship. 2020 hind-sight is a marvelous gift and blessing, and we thank-You. There are times when we fail to look in the mirror to help guide our journey. You see all things, and this Holy Day we celebrate your gift of sight through Jesus Your Son, AMEN

MESSAGE

On this beautiful and Holy day, the Lord welcomes us to gather together and enjoy a short imaginary journey through the past. We will head down some paths and on trails that you may recognize and see events that were informative, cautionary, openly forecasting that unexpected changes were ahead. Let us witness together the signs as we pass. We can do this by allowing that LITTLE CHILD that resides in all of us, to come out and walk along with us. For a few minutes, just enjoy the mental journey.

Abraham let his "Little Child" come out when God appeared to him in Gen 17:1, {Paraphrasing}: "Walk before me...I have a BIG job for you!!" The child in Abraham believed that He who appeared before him was indeed GOD! The rest is Biblical History!

As we walk along, I'll share with you some recollections of days now behind us. Some are my personal memories, others are passed down or learned through someone, somewhere, sometime. Each holds a special place in my mind as markers or sign posts as if on a map to guide future travels. Much of what we will see on this journey will be seen through your personal lens. Let the vision bring back your own specific memories of that time and era. God reminds us that history, when consulted regularly and in earnest can help us to avoid repeating many past events. If we discover that we are heading down the wrong road-please, SAY SOMETHING. PRAY ON IT!

Grandma Elsie May (on my father's side) used to speak about Hugo Frear, her Great Grandfather who lived at the time of the reformation, the PROTEST-ANT period and the bloody departure from the Roman Church throughout Europe. A most violent period of our collective history. If you ever get the opportunity to read Foxe's Book of Martyrs, your view of mankind and religiosity might change forever.

Grandpa Hugo, a devoted simple man of Godly faith likely witnessed, and perhaps suffered for what he believed. Speaking up while in constant prayer to the Lord. Grandma Elsie was adamant that Prayer was the only thing that got Hugo and his family through this violent period. .....brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you;  and that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith.- {2Th 3:1-2}

See that big old building over there? That used to be Grant Junior High School. Our school day in 7th, 8th, and 9th grades began with morning announcements delivered over the in-class loud speaker system, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, concluding in a daily prayer. Every student stood for the pledge and the prayer. They stood out of respect, not by mandate. They were proud of their school, the city and state, our country, and of GOD! Same story in elementary school. We would stand, and pray to start the day. Somewhere in the mid sixties, somebody got offended over prayer in school. WE SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING!

By the time I joined the Army,(at 17), those who got offended about prayer starting the day in schools could be found gathering at airports spitting on soldiers as we boarded airplanes heading overseas to serve in foreign lands. "Baby killers, murderers" they shouted as they spat! For a young soldier, a mountain boy, this stuff was tough NOT to respond to it. But, we followed orders and Orders were Orders! Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.-1Pe 5:8 WE SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING! WE SHOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING!

By the time I retired from the Army, several devices and technology that had not yet been invented were suddenly becoming common place. Computers, satellite TV and cell phones, scanners at grocery check outs all had been invented. Out of 23 years wearing the uniform of a soldier, 17 years were spent in some other country.

I left the U.S. as an 18 years old, was still blessed with an innocence and respect still displayed in American society. When I returned to CONUS (Continental United States), I again left behind a wonderful sense of innocence in the overseas country I was leaving and I was blown away how ugly, hateful and downright selfish people had allowed themselves to become here at home. It was like somebody threw a light switch while I was gone -- Personal responsibility and accountability vanished. The concept, "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME" was born!

Gone! Prayer in school was done away with; removing God completely from school, college, and public square. Our lord was gleefully replaced by a fellow named SATAN.   "How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations! - Isa 14:12 WE SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING; WE SHOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING!

SUMMARY

Well, will you look at the hour? Walking along, talking, remembering, recalling the "Good Old Days". Time really flys by! Just up ahead is a fork in the road. One fork leads to the right, the other to the left. Its time to make a final decision; Which way to go? The decision is not political one. It is a decision of survival. Both directions lead to an eternity. Its not a question of ideology. It is a question of right and wrong, good and evil, Heaven or Hell.

If we had been paying attention in the late 60's and onward, we would have had a chance to circumvent some of events, or at least slow them down. Alas, we all seemed to be asleep at the wheel. The World had consumed us.

God has given us the "TWO MINUTE WARNING". Its decision time beloved. Two destinations, ETERNAL DARKNESS and ANGUISH, or ETERNAL LIGHT AND THE JOY OF OUR MAKER. Its a personal decision, I know. BUT....it IS YOUR DECISION. God does not send us to heaven or to hell. WE DO! We make decisions. When we choose the World, we choose wrong. That eternity is very dark.

Well, here we are at the fork in the road. Thanks for walking along. I remember what the Bible tells us;   "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.   "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." [The Almighty]- Rev 22:12-13;1:8

I'm going to head on down the right fork. Its not a trail that is well paved, like the left one, but I belive I see the foot prints of our Lord Jesus. I'll be following them.

{1Pe 5:8-11} Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (9) Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. (10) But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. (11) To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

WE FINALLY SAID SOMETHING, AND WE FINALLY DID SOMETHING. Hope to see you on the trail ahead! Checking your rear-view mirror!

CLOSING PRAYER

Almighty God, Holy Scripture teaches us through Your Word to be ever observant of where we are in relationship to evil, or deceit and Your Word demands that we take such measures to correct the course and direction of our sojourn as we journey on earth. It seems we did not pay attention to the bold signs that we all witnessed over the past 55 or so years. Please forgive us our terrible error. Give us wisdom and discernment to avoid future such errors, In Jesus the Christ, AMEN

SUNDAY MESSAGE

MOTHER'S DAY 2025

Proverbs 31:10-31

Who can find a virtous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.

{Pro 31;10 NKJV}

OPENING PRAYER

How swiftly the sands in the hour glass fall when we find our place to serve the Living God. It seems, O' Lord Jesus that it was just yesterday when we first gathered here and shared the beauty of Your Holy Work; our Mothers. Thank You Father for bringing us to gather in worship and in Love on this special day in Jesus Christ, AMEN.

MESSAGE

Ten years ago on MOTHER'S DAY, 2015, the Lord blessed, filled and equipped me to deliver my very first sermon at the Beacon. There was just a handful of residents attending who shared that Mother's day celebration with millions celebrating Moms around the world. I've reached back in time to that sermon and and bring forward some of its elements for today's message of the unchanging strength and beauty of "Motherhood";

Gen 2:21-24  So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.  (22)  The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.  (23)  The man said, "This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man."  (24)  For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Gen 1:27-28  God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  (28)  God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

YEARS AGO there was a song that was part of a huge movie, the name of which I have log forgotten. The song in that movie has stuck with me all these years. The singer/actor was a French fellow named Maurice Chevalier, and the hit song was "THANK HEAVENS FOR LITTLE GIRLS".

Thus GOD gave us our beginning. Man and Woman, soon to be someone's Mom and Dad. This was the start. The Lord's mighty plan to join one man and one woman into a lifelong bond, providing THE method of producing families, children, natural brothers and sisters who themselves would grow up be joined together by the Lord and produce families all in the loving grace of a mighty and wondrous God.

The word MOTHER appears 320 times in the Bible. Some mothers were famous. Eve, Sarah, Rebecca, Rahab, Deborah, Ruth, Bathsheeba, and of course Mary, Mother of Jesus. Other Moms we will simply say that Jezebel's image was probably not the most wholesome for children to emulate.

In Exodus 20:12, God lays out by a commandment that we should honor our Father and our Mother. This is repeated in Leviticus and in Deuteronomy.

In (Jdg 5:7) The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel. Deborah became the Chief Judge and Ruler of the Israelites and a great leader in battle. She called herself a "Mother in Israel".

In the book of Ruth, (Rth 1:14) And they (the two widowed daughters) lifted up their voices and wept; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, then returned to her people, but Ruth clung to her mother-in-law NAOMI.

In 1 Sam, a man named Elkanah had two wives. One, named Hannah, who could not have children. Hannah prayed to God while at the Temple in Shilo and God granted her favor, allowing for the birth of the future Prophet Samuel. Hannah through prayer, by the grace of GOD became a mother.

Sarah, wife of Abraham, she had been baron her whole life. In her 90's, Sahrah became a MOM. IN HER 90'S..........!!!

Then there was Mary: (Luk 1:30,31,34,35) The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. "And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?" The angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.

(Luk 2:7) And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

(Luk 2:17) When they [The humble Shepherds of sheep] had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child.

This Child, fully MAN, fully GOD, named JESUS was introduced to the world not to High Potentates, or Kings, or Movie stars, or any other influencial human beings, this JESUS our SAVIOR was FIRST presented to a group of SHEPHERDS who had been attending their sheep when God extended the invitation to witness this miracle, in the presence of a young MOM.

On this Mother's Day, let us our journey through the Bible, specifically to scripture highlighting Mothers of Biblical times.

King Solomon demonstrated his great God-given wisdom in the matter of the two mothers who argued over the life of a surviving baby. By the KING offering to divide the living child in two, the true mother was wisely acknowledged and the real mother of the living child was rejoined. A mother's love could not tolerate injury to her precious child.

Not all mothers of Biblical times had happy outcomes. The wife of LOT, Abraham's nephew was turned into a pillar of salt as she looked back towards Sodom and Gomorrah in defiance of a command by the Angel of the Lord.

Jezebel, wife of King Ahab set a horrible standard for her children as she became truly a terror and killer taking many lives in pursuit of her selfish and lustful Pagan beliefs and greed. Her story begins in 1 Kings, Chapter 16.

When you were a child and was hurt, or you were sick, who made it all better? It was Mom. Who taught you how to count to ten, to say thank-you and please? It was Mom. Who taught you to pray; Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take? It was Mom. Who introduced you to the power and truth of the COOKING SPOON? Of course, your loving Mom!

Mary, the Mother of Christ, the most cherished and adored MOM of all time.

SUMMARY

Pro 31:10-31-NKJV; Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. (11) The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain.

(12) She does him good and not evil All the days of her life. (13) She seeks wool and flax, And willingly works with her hands. (14) She is like the merchant ships, She brings her food from afar.

(15) She also rises while it is yet night, And provides food for her household, And a portion for her maidservants. (16) She considers a field and buys it; From her profits she plants a vineyard. (17) She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms.

(18) She perceives that her merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night. (19) She stretches out her hands to the distaff, And her hand holds the spindle. (20) She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.

(21) She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet. (22) She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

(23) Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land. (24) She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies sashes for the merchants. (25) Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. (26) She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness. (27) She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.

(28) Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: (29) "Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all." (30) Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised. (31) Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates.

It is those special and unique talents, instincts, and nurturing temperaments given to Mothers, by the grace of God, that anoints Mothers to be so very special and to hold eternal places in the archive of our hearts. Whether good or bad, strong or weak, she will always be more than just a woman, she will forever be your MOM. Happy Mother's Day.

CLOSING PRAYER

LET US PRAY: Father, we praise You for Your great wisdom in creating Mothers. Those who carry us while You knit us together in her womb, those who nurse us, hold us, care for us, teach us, and Love us, just as you have first loved her. Continue, we pray O Lord, to hold Mothers in special regard, keeping their hearts pure and soft as the great nurturers of your Kingdom. Know that in our hearts and in the heart of our Creator, You MOM hold a very, very special place in our lives. In the name of Jesus, we lift you UP in constant prayer, Amen.

SUNDAY MESSAGE

"MY WILLING IS PRESENT"

"MY DOING IS NOT!"

Rom 7:18

For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. {Rom 7:18 NASB}

OPENING PRAYER

Almighty Father, Lord Jesus, what capricious creatures we are. The moniker as sheep we wear is accurate to the hurt of our own selves. As our Creator, Shepherd and Master, my soul tells me that we can be a most frustrating lot. Dreamers with stiff necks, and a propensity to wander into trouble in the blink of an eye. Thank You Lord for loving and guiding us on this journey with Jesus the Christ, AMEN

MESSAGE

The Bible leads me to accept that even the Lord God Almighty has experienced epochs and seasons where, what we understand as FRUSTRATION, raises it ugly head! Certainly the Garden of Eden was perfect in the beginning but soon, evil crept in and Adam wandered into darkness. Then Cain killed his brother Abel.

Just as our opening Romans verse conveys, we all know how to do right, but more often than not, we choose not to do what is necessary to accomplish God's will!

Case in point; at home, I suffer from an affliction called Minute-itis. The condition will often obscure my better judgment and I fall short of delivering on a completed job or task. Here is an example; My darling bride, Linda says, "Gary, will you do such and such? To which I reply, Yes, IN A MINUTE! Several hours go by and Linda reminds me, and again SORRY...I'll get it in a MINUTE!

When it comes to our duty to our God, do we respond quickly and accomplish the task at hand or.. Do we silently say to ourselves, IN A MINUTE, LORD! ?

I'll get back to answer this question in A FEW MINUTES!

In Rom 7:15-25 -The scripture reads as if Paul was having a conversation with himself. That is nothing unusual in my thinking. We can often discover solutions that we might have missed in silent meditation, but by speaking out loud to your self; hearing our own voices as someone else might hear us. Some would be quite surprised how quickly a solution can be vetted through the process of talking to yourself!!

There is a lot of scripture so I will be paraphrasing the following monologue the Apostle Paul was having; For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, [instead] I am doing the very thing I hate.

(16) In verse 16; Paul continues--But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing [through my own actions] that the Law is good.

(17) So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.

(18) For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.

(20) [Paul says]; But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. (The DEVIL Made Me Do IT!)

(21) I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good, but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner. {of the influence of Sin}

I suppose it could be said that, for many of us, "OUR GET UP AND GO, HAS GOT UP AND GONE" The sadness comes when we finally realize that when we say IN A MINUTE to the Lord, that Holy opportunity to do HIS will may not return.

SUMMARY

The Apostle Paul experiences an Epiphany and reaches a startling discovery;

Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin. Let me ask the same question from earlier in this message; When it comes to our duty to our God, do we respond quickly and accomplish the task at hand or.. Do we silently say to ourselves, IN A MINUTE, LORD! ?

CLOSING PRAYER

O' Awesome Creator of all that there is, through Your Word open our eyes to a path that leads us away from fleshly sin, secret sin of lust, and all manner of sinful thought and behavior. When you, Lord, places someone in need in our path and we have a solution, don't wait, just act. Let God use you immediately to bring a kind word or a helping hand providing comfort in the name of Jesus the Christ, AMEN.

DOXOLOGY

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, Ye heaven-ly host;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

Amen

Leviticus 9:1-11:47; Ezekiel 45:18-46:15; Mark 9:1-13

SUNDAY MESSAGE

"...IN EVERYTHING YOU WERE ENRICHED..."

1Co 1:5 NASB

I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you, so that you are not lacking in any gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1Co 1:4-8 NASB)

OPENING PRAYER

Awesome Creator and Father, we are granted by Your will and Grace the privilege of sojourning on this earth for a very short period of time. Through the 70, 80, or 90 plus years allotted to us, remove the scales from our eyes so as to see clearly the words YOU wrote on our hearts long before we were created. Grant us an addiction to place You and the Kingdom First and foremost in all our routines. We pray in the name of Jesus the Christ, AMEN

MESSAGE

For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. {Rom 5:6-8 NASB}

In him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And we are complete in him, who is the head of all principality and power. WOW! What a statement, what a TRUTH! I could stand here all day long and tell you about these and many other TRUTHs. I could read out loud back-to-back scripture for hours at a time. None of this would be very productive unless those hearing were willing to commit and truly embrace JESUS as your personal Savior.

In {Jhn 15:4}, Jesus says; Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine; neither can you, except if you abide in me. I am the vine you are the branches: he that abides in me and I in him, this brings forth much fruit: but without me you can do nothing.

I can tell you in good faith that Jesus is not overly concerned with all that you have done in the past. You are a sinner and He knows that. We all have things that we are not proud of, or acts that still brings on a sense of shame. His concern is for your future! He made you.

{Rom 7:18} For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. In {Eph 4:7} we find the following written; But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. The Lord's measure is unending!

When Jesus breathed His last and gave up His spirit to the Father, He willingly took on all of the sin of all the world's population, carrying it on His shoulders to His death. Jesus took our place and released us from Adam's original eternal sin.

We were saved BY GRACE, IN FAITH, through JESUS, according to HOLY SCRIPTURE, all in GLORY TO GOD! Jesus became the ONLY DOOR to the KINGDOM of HEAVEN. No one enters the Kingdom except by JESUS.

{Col 3:16-17} Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

SUMMARY

There remains yet another tool to always keep handy and ready to use. Beyond Grace, Faith, and Holy Scripture, this tool is a most powerful key to Celestial Holy Communication. Prayer!

Prayer combined with Holy Scripture forms this unbreakable bond, through Jesus the Christ, that paves the way to the Kingdom; Then [Jesus] lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said: "Blessed are you poor, for yours is the Kingdom of God." {Luk 6:20 NKJV}

As we opened this message, so shall we close it; I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. (1Co 1:4-9 KJV)

Seek the Kingdom FIRST, and FIRST in Prayer; Jesus said in John 3:3, NKJV: "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."

CLOSING PRAYER

O' Holy Spirit that resides in us, guide us, we pray, to be consistent and with Holy purpose to habitually seek Your favor in all that we do. From the moment we stir from our slumber in the mornings to the closing prayers at bed time, lead us, O Lord, grant us the words that only our souls can utter, and cause us to develop this Holy routine each and every day. In the name of Jesus the Christ, AMEN.

DOXOLOGY

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, Ye heaven-ly host;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

Amen

THE CALL

If you have never invited Jesus to be your Lord and savior, or, if you have in the past yet remain unsure of salvation and forgiveness of sin, Please pray with me now: Lord Jesus I need to fill a hole in my life that follows me where ever I go. I am a long-time Sinner and I CONFESS and REPENT of all my sins. I believe that You JESUS are the Lord, that you were hung on a cross and died. I believe that you were raised back to life by God, Your Father, ascended into heaven and presently sit at the right hand of The Almighty. Please come into me, clean me, take me and make me Yours and let me serve from this day forward and forever, Thank-You Jesus, AMEN

If you sincerely prayed with me, your salvation has been assured. {Rom 10:9 KJV} -That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
