2 Sam 11
2Sa 11:5 NASB The woman conceived; and she sent and told [King] David, and said, "I am pregnant."
OPENING PRAYER
Mighty all knowing and all seeing God of Creation, we praise You on this Holy day. We present ourselves with humble hearts before You as You have gathered us together in Worship and loving fellowship. Let our focus be on Your Word in guiding us to Personal Accountability on our Journey. A journey to Trust and Obey, for that is the way through Jesus the Christ, Amen.
MESSAGE
Five short days ago, we witnessed, what can only be termed, The Hand of God working and moving right before our eyes allowing each of us to be present, on the front-lines, as God's Will became the centerpiece of a new accountability in the conduct of our government. THE ELECTION OF 2024 IS DONE.
A government is ordained by the Lord and elected by WE THE PEOPLE, in HIS glory. The Apostle Paul says: Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. {Rom 13:1 NKJV}
Every person on this planet has a God Commanded obligation that is individual to the man or woman. The obligation is to practice with vigor and sincerity PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY. Being responsible for themselves in the application and adherence to the directive and regulatory statutes delivered by those whom WE THE PEOPLE have elected to act as OUR REPRESENTATIVES. That is why it is called A REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC
We expect those we elect to honestly and openly conduct OUR business before the people with RIGHTEOUSNESS, TRUTHFULNESS, and HONESTY as they place ALMIGHTY GOD, and WE THE PEOPLE before all other considerations including themselves! When our elected leaders are found to be feathering their own nests, at our expense, those acts are repulsive!
No one is immune to the attempts of Satan to tempt us toward sin. Each of us has within us God's hand written moral compass true North, written on our hearts. We have no excuse to be counter active with the demands of HE who made us! This is our PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY COMPASS.
Accountability of the FLESH is where it all begins. It is also where most of us first-fail and we allowed sin to come into us!
King David, anointed by GOD was beloved by his people and greatly feared by his enemies. From the day he left his father's sheepfolds as a youth, God's anointing was upon him. Despite his anointing, and devotion to the Lord, it was the FLESH that consumed his right thinking and allowed Satan's temptation to sprout.
2Sa 11:1-5 NASB Then it happened in the spring, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him and all Israel, and they destroyed the sons of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. (2) Now when evening came David arose from his bed and walked around on the roof of the king's house, and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful in appearance. (3) So David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, "Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?" (4) David sent messengers and took her, and when she came to him, he lay with her; and when she had purified herself from her uncleanness, she returned to her house. (5) The woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said, "I am pregnant."
It was at this moment that David's fleshly error opened the door for Satan's encouragement to do something VERY UNTOWARD. { For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. } Eph 6:12 NASB The desires of the flesh is a highly successful point of entry for the devil. Men and women both are so easily compromised by the desires of the flesh and always leads to disasters ahead.
That warm spring night, a woman bathing by lamp light, a King whose flesh was on fire resulted in the murder of Bathsheba's husband Uriah, and the death of the baby born of their sinful union that night. { Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.} Eph 6:13 NASB
SUMMARY/APPLICATION
Our Wondrous God uses these episodes of gross failure and sin to advance HIS will during our sojourns. David married Bathsheba, and Solomon was born to fulfill his role with great wisdom and build the Temple of God at Jerusalem.
All of us owe to each other our fellowship, to be sounding boards when ever possible sinful errors are forming. To be our brother or our sister's guard-rails along the path of life, this Journey-- before Jesus, Our Lord.
Heb 10:24-27 NASB ...let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment.
Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another. -{Pro 27:17 NASB}
And finally, Jas 5:16 NASB, Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. It could very well keep you from sinning!
CLOSING PRAYER
Lord of Mercy, we are thankful to have been blessed to witness the movement of Your Hand this past year, and more especially in these last few days. We are in awe as You give us confirmation that You are very much involved, in real time, in the events of this nation and this world. Thank You for the visible reminders of our responsibility to be accountable for our individual actions. Personal Accountability is vital for all of us as we share the Gospel message to all who have ears to hear and eyes to see. Praise You LORD Jesus, Amen.
THE CALL
If you have never invited Jesus to be your Lord and savior, or, if you have in the past yet remain unsure of salvation and forgiveness of sin, Please pray with me now: Lord Jesus I need to fill a hole in my life that follows me where ever I go. I am a long-time Sinner and I CONFESS and REPENT of all my sins. I believe that You JESUS are the Lord, that you were hung on a cross and died. I believe that you were raised back to life by God, Your Father, ascended into heaven and presently sit at the right hand of The Almighty. Please come into be, clean me, take me and make me Yours and let me serve from this day forward and forever, Thank-You Jesus, AMEN
