ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to

MESSAGE
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. -Psa 46:10 KJV Whether you find yourself in dotage, midage, or nonage, being still requires discipline and practice toward perfection. Some old timers like me still struggle with being still. Its hard sometimes to focus. So many thoughts rolling through the mind. Distractions are everywhere. Today's lifestyle in the world is a cruel taskmaster. No mercy, you snooze, you loose! Hold on a second, I'm getting a text.....How do we develop this rare art of stillness?
In the Book of Ruth a mother and wife joins her two daughters-in-law suffering the horrible depths of grief in the loss of her husband and her sons. Suddenly, mother and two daughters-in-law must fend for themselves to avoid starving to death. Strong faith leads through difficult days, One daughter returns to her people. Ruth clings to Naomi, committing each to the other. Naomi's tribe support her return and redemption is soon to be found. Stillness, however, would be required!
Rth 3:18 NKJV Then [Naomi] said, "Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out; for the man [Boaz] will not rest until he has concluded the matter this day." For Ruth and her mother-in-law Naomi -- being still was vital to survival. God had heard their pleadings, and His will was being set in motion to the outcome of His pleasure! Ruth need only stillness and patience as the Lord's hand moved Boaz. Oh, what a beautiful outcome. Patience, Stillness and God's will prevailed.
Standing before the tomb of Lazarus, Jesus *said, "Remove the stone." Martha, the sister of the deceased, *said to Him, "Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days." (40) Jesus *said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?" {Joh 11:39-40 NASB}
She stood still and the Lord shouted "LAZARUS ...COME FORTH!!.."
Luk
10:38-42 NASB Now as they were traveling along, [Jesus] entered a
village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. (39)
She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord's feet,
listening to His word. (40) But Martha was distracted with all her
preparations; and she came up to Him and said, "Lord, do You not
care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then
tell her to help me." (41) But the Lord answered and said to
her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many
things; (42) but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen
the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
Mary was being still...so that she might know!
Psa 4:4 NASB Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. Always allow for a few moments of calm, Be Still, as the Lord reminds. These precious moments can help you to focus and avoid making the situation worse or fall into sin in response. (Count to TEN)
Psa 37:7-8 NASB Rest in the LORD and [BE STILL] while you wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. (8) Cease from anger and forsake wrath; Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing. Be still...and count to TEN!
1Ki 19:1-11 NASB Now [King] Ahab told [Queen] Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed the [450 Pagan] prophets with the sword. (2) Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So may the gods do to me and even more, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time." (3) And [Elijah] he was afraid and arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.
(4) But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree; and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, "It is enough; now, O LORD, take my life, for I am not better than my fathers."
(5) He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, there was an angel touching him, and he said to him, "Arise, eat."
(6) Then he looked and behold, there was at his head a bread cake baked on hot stones, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank and lay down again. (7) The angel of the LORD came again a second time and touched him and said, "Arise, eat, because the journey is too great for you." (8) So he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God. Elijah does not appear that he is being STILL. Panic and deep distress might be the fretful condition he suffers.
SUMMARY/APPLICATION
(9) Then [Elijah] came there to a cave and lodged there; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" (10) He said, "I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away." (11) So [God] said, "Go forth and stand on the mountain before the LORD." And behold, the LORD was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice: ["What are you doing here, Elijah?"] {1Ki 19:12 KJV}
Elijah learned to BE STILL AND KNOW...that Jesus is Lord! BE STILL AND LISTEN...discipline yourself to be in the RECEIVE MODE not in the SEND MODE. That old adage "Silence is Golden" is true!
When I was in the fifth grade, my dad, Loyd Earl Thompson told me, "Gary, in life when you want to be seen for your beliefs then be a man and STAND UP! If you want to be heard for your beliefs then be a man and SPEAK UP! And if you want to be respected for your beliefs and learn at the same time, be a man, sit down and SHUT UP!".
BE STILL AND KNOW, BE STILL AND LEARN, THEN BE STILL AND FOLLOW JESUS.
CLOSING PRAYER
O' Mighty and awesome Creator, we are filled to the brim with that which You have taught us this Holy day. Guide us in the application of BEING STILL in our walk with You. May the Holy Spirit, by Your will, quietly nudge us in rightful thought, recalling the lesson taught that is sometimes hard to accomplish. To BE STILL and KNOW-WITHOUT DOUBT-THAT YOU, Jesus, ARE THE LORD, AMEN.
THE CALL
If you have never invited Jesus to be your Lord and savior, or, if you have in the past yet remain unsure of salvation and forgiveness of sin, Please pray with me now: Lord Jesus I need to fill a hole in my life that follows me where ever I go. I am a long-time Sinner and I CONFESS and REPENT of all my sins. I believe that You JESUS are the Lord, that you were hung on a cross and died. I believe that you were raised back to life by God, Your Father, ascended into heaven and presently sit at the right hand of The Almighty. Please come into be, clean me, take me and make me Yours and let me serve from this day forward and forever, Thank-You Jesus, AMEN
If you sincerely prayed with me, your salvation has been assured. {Rom 10:9 KJV -That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. }
