The words of our Lord Jesus providing encouragement to all of us to grow into fully spiritual beings, leaving the carnal behind. Today we examine ourselves in Your presence Lord. Grant us open ears, eyes, hearts and souls to see ourselves through Your lens of spirituality. Show us the way, let us grow out of carnality and leave it far behind we pray in the name of Jesus the Christ, AMEN.

MESSAGE

Our topic, on this Holy day is the question of carnality vs. spirituality. Both behaviors that represent the GOOD Vs. EVIL war inside us. We are engaged in a battle, a struggle to the death from the moment of our birth to our last earthly breath. In this battle, only one can win. In the most simple of terms, to be carnal is to be against or counter to God. Conversely, being spiritual is to practice behavior leading to that which pleases or glorifies God.

In the Old testament there was an Aramaic/Hebrew 3-word phrase (that I am not going to try to pronounce) that described what was then called Carnal or carnal activity. The words translated to "lying of seed", or as we read in Lev 18:20 KJV, Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to defile thyself with her. Most all of Leviticus Chapter 18 deals with that activity we can call the "NASTY STUFF". Because, NASTY it is!!

The NEW Testament still documents carnality, and creative human beings have painted the NASTY STUFF with several coats of paint so as to disguise all the vulgarities making it easier for Satan to sell it to you, and you eagerly buy it up!!

By enlarge, we seem pretty good in identifying that which is NASTY. Some of it will certainly make us feel real good for a few minutes; long enough for the devil to convince us to stay on that Train-to-Hell. HINT: Get off now! Stay off!

Beginning in Genesis and all the way through Revelation SIN is SIN and SIN is carnal. To be carnal is to be SINFUL. We were born sinners, and we will be sinners until that moment when we draw our last breath and exchange this fleshly tent for our Spiritual body. Jesus paid the ultimate price for us. He took our place. He died so that we might become spiritual and forever give up the fleshly carnality we know as SIN. He overcame. So can we, but only through Jesus.

SUMMARY/APPLICATION

Our opening scripture: If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (Gal 5:25 NKJV) This verse points the direction for us, but to find out how we can relate this to our daily walk, lets see what Holy Scripture reveals:

1. You must allow the "Little Child" in you to come out. Believe, as a child believes that all things are possible in God, and NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE. Mar 10:15 NKJV Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." Therefore, believe as a child and pray. Pray knowing that all things are possible through God, through PRAYER!

2. Having a good and firm understanding of what the Lord sees as carnal, and those areas where he encourages us to excel, helps us while wearing the flesh to avoid SIN and embrace His will. It truly is an on-going war within us.

Such a comprehensive nasty list we find in: Gal 5:19-23 NKJV ; Now the works of the flesh [the carnal] are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, (20) idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, (21) envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I [Paul] tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (23) gentleness, self-control. This is the fruit to harvest and always have present in your basket. These are the fruits of the Spirit. Discipline yourself to practice these and stay clear of the carnal fruits of the flesh! Strive to be Holy because HE is Holy!

The question at the beginning today was: ARE YOU CARNAL OR SPIRITUAL? Your answer should be YES to both! You were born carnal and of flesh. When you said YES to Jesus and invited Him to come into you, The Holy Spirit began teaching you Spiritual things from within. You were blind to the Gospel, now you see. You were deaf to the WORD of God, now you hear. You were born LOST, but now you are found.

As we approach the day when the Lord will call us home, which one of these, CARNAL or SPIRITUAL will have the larger bank balance? The answer is simple; the one you feed!

CLOSING PRAYER

Mighty and Loving Lord, thank-You for this teaching and message as we struggle to distance ourselves from the fleshly carnal nature that we were born into and by Your grace apprehend the Holy, the Spiritual. Grant us extreme patience, stamina, wisdom, determination, and discernment in our pursuit. Teach us, reach us, show us and grow us as we embrace an eternity in Your service in the Kingdom, O' Mighty King JESUS, Amen

If you have never invited Jesus to be your Lord and savior, or, if you have in the past yet remain unsure of salvation and forgiveness of sin, Please pray with me now: Lord Jesus I need to fill a hole in my life that follows me where ever I go. I am a long-time Sinner and I CONFESS and REPENT of my sins. I believe that You JESUS are the Lord, that you were hung on a cross and died. I believe that you were raised back to life by God, Your Father, ascended into heaven and presently sit at the right hand of The Almighty. Please come into be, clean me, take me and make me Yours and let me serve from this day forward and forever, Thank-You Jesus, AMEN

If you sincerely prayed with me, your salvation has been assured. Waste no time in finding like minded folks, to fellowship with, who also know the lord.
