TRUST IN HIM---NOT THE WORLD

When they [The Governing Authorities] had brought them, they stood them before the Council. The high priest questioned them,  saying, "We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, [Jesus] and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us."   But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men. ~Act 5:27-29

Peter and those with him had been witnessing with a Gospel power and zeal effectively bringing many in Jerusalem to a place of real salvation.  Those in authority [The Priests] began to fret that if allowed to continue -- their way of life and stream of wealth and power would be in jeopardy.  The Apostles certainly had knowledge requiring them to obey the government.

Scripture is pretty clear about this; Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.~ Heb 13:17

These PRIESTS who were conducting this inquisition had been compromised by those who are of the WORLD. I recall that Jesus called them "White Washed Walls"; looking pure and clean on the outside while being dirty as sin on the inside. [Mat 23:27]

When you witness, share or preach the Gospel,  Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you.~ 1Jn 3:13   Do not love the world nor the things in the world.   If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.    For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.~ 1Jn 2:15-16

Yes, it is hard to be in this world and not be of it.   There are and probably will be times when you will face a situation like Peter and be in contention with authorities over our obligation to the Holy Scripture, church and our God.

Rest on the Holy Spirit as Peter did. Clear a path in you so that the Lord can do the speaking. I know that it is difficult for many, but it is imperative to keep Jesus focused center-most in your mind constantly, and keep the world at bay.   Lean on the Holy Spirit as your personal counselor.  Listen to him.

When you are born again, your eternity has already begun, right here, right now.

Live for HIM and not for the world!
