ELECTION 2020--IN GOD WE TRUST

CALL TO WORSHIP The great Blessings of our Lord and Savior JESUS the Christ be with you this Lord's Day, NOVEMBER 1st, 2020. We are gathered and the very Spirit of God is present and in our midst. Welcome Lord Jesus, YOU are always welcome and we humbly revere Your Name, Amen. Being the FIRST SUNDAY of a new month, we shall Recall the horrible price Jesus paid that you and I might be freed of the sentence of eternal death. Jesus took our place before the executioner, and through His precious blood, --we who believe and have called His name-- were regenerated and granted SALVATION unto Eternal LIFE in the Kingdom.

-------->[LORDS SUPPER]<-------

PRAYER: FATHER GOD, SOVERIGN POWER OF ALL CREATION, WE COME BEFORE YOU WITH GREAT REVERANCE AS WE PREPARE TO COMMERATE AND RECALL WITH BITTER ANGUISH, THE SACRIFICE OF YOUR ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, JESUS THE CHRIST. YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR US A FEAST; AND THOUGH WE ARE UNWORTHY TO SIT DOWN AS GUESTS, WE WHOLLY REST ON THE MERITS AND GRACE OF JESUS, AND HIDE OUSELVES BENEATH HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS. IN THIS SUPPER, WE WILL REMEMBER HIS ETERNAL LOVE, BOUNDLESS GRACE, AGONY AND COMPASSION ON THE CROSS. IN HIS RESURECTION, WE LOOK FORWARD TO HIS RETURN , AMEN.

Mat 26:20-25Now when evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples. (21) As they were eating, He said, "Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me." (22) Being deeply grieved, they each one began to say to Him, "Surely not I, Lord?" (23) And He answered, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is the one who will betray Me. (24) "The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born." (25) And Judas, who was betraying Him, said, "Surely it is not I, Rabbi?" Jesus *said to him, "You have said it yourself."

[PENALTY CAUTION]

1Co 11:27-28 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. (28) But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. PRAY NOW SILENTLY; examine yourself in His presence and be assured that you are indeed a believer, a Follower of Jesus Christ and are prepared to reverently recount His blessed gift that set all of us free through His death on the Cross.

Jesus washed us clean of our sins, once and for all time through the spilling of His blood on that old cross. His resurrection to life is testimony of this promise and the fulfillment of Biblical prophesy. It is through this emblematic eating of the bread and drinking of the wine that we commemorate and properly honor His sacrifice until His return.

[THE SUPPER]

Mat 26:26-29While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." (27) And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you; (28) for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. (29) "But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom."

CLOSING PRAYER: Father, we commemorate and celebrate the memorial of Your Son. By means of this HOLY BREAD and CUP of WINE, we show forth the sacrifice of JESUS death and proclaim HIS resurrection, until HE comes again. By HIM, with HIM, and in HIM, in unity with the HOLY SPIRIT, all honor and glory is Yours, Almighty Savior, now and forever, AMEN.

THIS CONCLUDES THE LORD'S SUPPER AND WE CONTINUE TO THE SERMON

SERMON SYNOPSIS Pastor Charles Spurgeon {1834-1892}wrote a sermon called "The Right Observance of the Lord's Supper". He delivered that address Sunday evening, June 4th, 1882 at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in Newington, England.

I quote: "When we observe the Lord’s Supper, we feel a deep and earnest desire that none should come to the table in ignorance of the significance of the observance—or that, at least, ignorance may not be an occasion of eating unworthily—but that we may comprehend what we are doing and understand the spiritual meaning of this pictorial instruction by which the Lord Jesus Christ would, even until the end of the age, remind His Church of His great sacrifice upon the cross." [Unquote]

OPENING PRAYER Almighty God, thank You for this gathering of the Saints eager to hear with open ears. Give me words, O' Creator, that will reverently reflect Your majestic will and intent in the giving of Your only begotten Son that-- the sentence of eternal death might be satisfied and death being overcome through the precious blood of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Through the washing and regeneration of our souls by His blood, our sins are cleaned once for all time by this mighty BLOOD sacrifice. Teach us, reach us, show us, grow us all in His wonderful name, AMEN.

SERMON AS I began writing this sermon, the PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION-- that is now only 48 hrs away-- was going to be the center piece. Then the Holy Spirit took me by the hand. From within and He said that the focus should not be on the loud and vulgar voices of politicians and those who bring violence on the innocent. JESUS should be our focus-Frontand "Center-most" in our hearts and minds from sun to sun, in darkness as well as the light. Our thoughts should be pointed to eternity, and the Kingdom. He reminded that we all have much work yet to do in sharing the Gospel that Christ died for-- on that old RUGGED cross.

Lord Jesus commanded us to "Do this", {referring to the taking of the Lord's supper,} "in REMEMBERANCE of me". [Christ Jesus].

The honor of Remembering Jesus is evidence of a past, or ongoing association or relationship with Christ. How could we justify remembering unless we knew Him? It is through our FAITH that you and I know Jesus - through our studies and God's revelation. Through the salvation resulting in His shedding of His own blood for His Father, taking OUR PLACE --Thesentence of death was carried out.--IN HIM. His sacrifice released the believer from SIN and from Eternal death.

If you had no such relationship with Jesus, there would be nothing to remember; you would have no right to come to His table and eat of His bread, or drink of His wine. We must believe that Christ Jesus is the Lord, the Son of Almighty God. This is the FIRST and FOREMOST requirement in order to have an invitation to eat from the Master's Table.

{SIDE NOTE}-- We must be nourished if we are to live. We take in nourishment so that our lives can be sustained. Same is true spiritually, our Souls must also be nourished in order to thrive. Our Lord really stirred up a hornet's nest when He spoke of Eating His body and drinking His blood--

Joh 6:53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves.

Many of His "FOLLOWERS" suddenly lost interest while thinking of cannibalism. Jesus, of course was teaching the spiritual nourishment of our souls. Not the actual eating of his physical body, nor the drinking of His actual physical blood. Many departed. Christ saw the confusion in His Apostles, and ask of them if they too desired to walk away. Peter replied on their behalf: Joh 6:68 ..."Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.

It is through our remembrance and being faithful to this supper, this ordinance, that we satisfy the Lord's command; to reverently recall the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

The letting of blood, sprinkling, washing, anointing -- these are key in the atoning or sealing process that God was first to initiate after the fall. The first blood sacrifice was when God slaughtered animals to clothe Adam and Eve in skins. {Gen 3:21} The message was clear, the price of SIN is paid in BLOOD.

The Sealing of the Israelites at the first Passover in Egypt demonstrates the confirmation of the promise delivered by God through Moses. Jesus uses the juice of the vine, the blood, as it were, to SEAL His new covenant with man. By taking of the cup, we EMBLEMATICALLY satisfy the third leg of the REMEMBRANCE TRIAD; Thanksgiving, The Bread (Body) and the CUP (Blood) heralding our active participation in this Commanded Ordinance.

With affection and love, beloved , I pray that you have a greater understanding and appreciation for the beauty and holiness of the Lord's Supper as we regularly do -- with great reverence each month-- when we approach the Master's Table.

SUMMARY Jesus represents LIFE ETERNAL to those who acknowledge and confess HIS NAME. Jesus is the embodiment of RIGHTEOUSNESS, GRACE, MERCY, and LOVE. Jesus is the the STANDARD by which all TRUTH originates, now and forever. It is our privilege and our honor to Sup with the Master at HIS table and recall HIS gift of PROPITIATION IN HIS BLOOD that sets us free. THIS IS THE TRUTH!

CLOSING PRAYER Father, this has been a very challenging year. The Pestilence that was unleashed has taken a great toll on the world. Its not over yet, O' Lord. Storms, destruction, riots, murder, division, hatred, violence and attempts to remove all traces of You from the public square fill the 24-hour news /Social media blocks. Amongst all of this we still have vast and powerfully effective populations of YOUR Children who share the TRUTH to all who have ears to hear and eyes to see. Empower and protect these God-Loving populations, these OBEDIENT servants and enrich their messages to bring Godly results before your throne, in the name of Your Son Jesus the Christ, AMEN.

DOES IT PAY TO PRAY?

May the Awesome and Mighty Blessings of the ONE TRUE God be on each of as we gather here on this Lord's Day, October 25th, 2020.   "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst." [So says the Lord in Mat 18:20] LORD JESUS, You are ALWAYS welcomed in our Midst, ALWAYS!

IN OUR CALL TO WORSHIP THIS DAY Let us Bow our heads and join with Franklin Grahamand the rest of our Nation in praying -- O' Mighty God, we are heart broken over the division in this country. Every day we are hearing voices of anger, of hatred, of EVIL and purposeful attempts to turn the masses against You O Father. Against You O Jesus. Against You O Holy Spirit! Against the TRUTH! Father, we pray for divine INTERCESSION directly into the hearts, minds and souls of those who have been swept up in Satan's Net. Lord, INTERCEED as we are powerless to do that which only YOU can do. Cause by divine FIAT that the LIGHT of GOSPEL TRUTH will penetrate deeply into every human heart as this Election reaches it's conclusion. INTERCEED, O Lord, let us un-ball the FIST, relax our anger, dispose of the fear, and PRAY for a return to Brother and Sisterhood and cast the hatred behind, leaving only the TRUTH to remain. This we PRAY with earnest hearts, in the Name of Jesus, AMEN.

Psa 5:2-3  Heed the sound of [Our] cry for help, [Oh] King and my God, For to You We pray.  (3)  In the morning, O LORD, You will hear [Our] voices; In the morning We will order [Our] prayers to You and eagerly watch. AMEN

SERMON SYNOPSIS Prayers. They are physically unseen, but not unfelt. They are heard, are spoken, are read, but cannot be touched or captured in the hand. What is prayer? Have you ever prayed? Do you pray? Does it REALLY pay to pray? Are you praying now? Come, join me as we open in PRAYER:

OPENING PRAYER ABBA, our Majestic Father, we do not know the mechanism that carries our heart-felt prayers to be transmitted from our lips or our thoughts to Your divine ears. We do, however, rely on FAITH and belief in You that our PRAYERS ARE TRULY and instantly received by You O Lord. It is this same FAITH that unlocks the mystery of PRAYERS ANSWERED when You permit us to WITNESS the movement of Your hand in response. As we weather these troubled days, guided by the Holy Spirit, Let TRUTH and LOVE be our constant goals through YOU, O Father, in the Name of Jesus, AMEN.

SERMON In the Garden of Eden, Adam, Eve, Cain and Able had no concept of PRAYER as we know it today. God was there with them. Communication was eyeball to eyeball, mouth to ear. Two major events moved or transformed the dialog in the aftermath of Adam and Eve's great sin, and when Cain killed his brother Able.

The First Scriptural mention of prayer appears in and around Genesis Chapter 4, starting in verse 26. After Adam and Eve mourned the loss of Able, the THIRD child was born of this marriage named SETH. Seth grew up and fathered a male child he named ENOSH. The Bible clearly shows that mankind was horribly divided even then. Cain's lineage embraced the WORLD and its evil ways, SETH and his family line held close to their FAITH in the living God. As the EVIL and TURMOIL grew throughout all earthly residents, The KIN of SETH began to call upon the LORD in a manner we know as PRAYER.

NOAH had to have had a healthy PRAYER dialog with God as he and his family built the ARK. Human confidence in the power of prayer grew and eventually was well established. Our early witnesses, Abraham, Moses, Jacob, Joseph, Gideon, and most certainly DAVID knew and practiced PRAYER with great frequency.

We are of FLESH and BLOOD. God is SPIRIT. We in the flesh communicate directly by Eyeball, Mouth, Ear and physical touch. The SPIRIT is not visible and the whole Mouth to Ear thing with GOD is akin to THOUGHTS. Have you ever touched a THOUGHT? Held a THOUGHT in your hand? Tasted the flavor of a THOUGHT? Of course not. But we cannot deny, WE HAVE THOUGHTS AND THESE PROVOKE ACTION -- THESE THOUGHTS ARE REAL! So is PRAYER.

Prayer that contains the elements for success are ALWAYS answered! ALWAYS. Some might contend that GOD never answers OUR prayer. Many of those may forget that when GOD says WAIT, or, NO! -- these are also an answer. Not the answer you wanted, but it is an answer, none-the-less. If what you asked for is contrary to His will, HIS WORD, or might be harmful to you or the recipient, the answer NO remains an answer! If the timing is not right, GOD will have you wait!

Here are some THOUGHTFUL Elements of Successful Praying:

1. CONTRITION: Being broken hearted, humbled by events, especially when YOU are the cause of the contrition. You call on HIM for help.

2. WHOLE-HEARTEDNESS:   'You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. [ Jer 29:13]

3. FAITH: Mar 11:24  "Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.

4. RIGHTEOUSNESS: Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. [ Jas 5:16]

5. OBEDIENCE: 1Jn 3:22  ..Whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.

UUhhh, Mmmmm, WOW! Of all these elements, each equal in importance, this OBEDIENCE is MOST likely the one that will scuttle your prayer. We are very good about ASKING for things. We, however are not very good being OBEDIENT in following the Lord's rules for life;-- As laid out in Holy Scripture. The things that are "pleasing in His sight" are actually acts of simple OBEDIENCE.OBEDIENCE to HIS WORD!

SUMMARY Does it PAY to PRAY? It certainly does! The return is HUGE! The very moment HE permits you to see the movement of HIS hand in bringing about what you have prayed for -- you will be humbled to your knees. It will take your breath away! Only with GOD can we -- simple creatures --have a dialog with HIM our CREATOR! Only with GOD can a creature's pleading be heard, and the prayer fulfilled--Through His mighty Grace and Mercy. IT TRULY PAYS WHEN YOU PRAY!

CLOSING PRAYER O' Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, we thank You that we have the privilege of having direct, instant communication with You through the Blessing of PRAYER. Your infinite Love and great Mercy has so granted us this important favor. Let us be disciplined and well prepared as we pray. Let us pay particular attention to being OBEDIENT to Your will and commandments at all times, and ask to be equipped and empowered as we plead our case before Your mighty throne. IN the name above all names, Jesus the Christ, we say together, AMEN.

THE SLIPPERY THINGS

CALL TO WORSHIP Psa 37:35-36  I have seen a wicked, violent man Spreading himself like a luxuriant tree in its native soil.  (36)  Then he passed away, and lo, he was no more; I sought for him, but he could not be found.

SERMON SYNOPSIS THE SLIPPERY THINGS are TRANSIENT. TEMPORARY. We did not bring any thing in with us when we were born into these tents of bodies, and we CERTAINLY will not take anything with us when we depart. Try as we might, they SLIP right out of our hand when the short stay on Earth is done. They are VERY SLIPPERY! I have often wondered what thoughts might have been in the mind in those last hours of folks like Vanderbilt, or the Rockefellers. Earthly wealth beyond the imagination. Perhaps thoughts about WHO will soon own ALL of their stuff. Will anyone remember ?

The old adage is true -- YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU!.

OPENING PRAYER Lord it seems that we wear blinders for most of our earthly walk. As youngsters we earnestly pine for that day when we will be adults. Young Grown-ups have a sense of being immortal, almost bullet proof. Later in life we realize how much of what You have given us has been squandered. We lay up earthly treasures. We often worship the material. As the sun begins to set in our earthly life, we who believe can clearly see Eternity ahead giving thanks to You, O Lord, who created us. Praise you Father, Praise you Jesus, Praise you Holy Spirit, Amen.

SERMON I Love being a Dad, and a Grand Dad too! When all creatures are very young, most all are super cute. As they grow, they often transition into the LESS CUTE. For humans, this LESS CUTE plateau comes at or about 15 or 16 years of age. In certain cases and times, this period is often termed THE DOWN-RIGHT-UGLY-KNOW-IT-ALL-JUST-ASK-EM Phase. It can be rough. Mom and Dad become horribly STUPID, while the child knows everything there is to know or ever will!! I Love the smell of a newborn baby. I love puppy breath, kitten breath, not so much goats or calves. Babies are special!

I had the honor and joy of witnessing the birth of my son, and my daughter. Years later, God allowed me to again be witness to the birth of my Son's SON, and my Daughter's daughter! Grandpa even cut the cord following his Grand-daughter's first breath. The miracle of Life at the very hand of God never gets old. None of these babies brought any baggage with them. There was nothing in their tiny hands. Nothing.

Psa 90:10  [Written by Moses. This Psalm records the time-table for our short audition here on this Third Rock from the Sun-- He Writes]; As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, Or if due to strength, eighty years, Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; For soon it is gone and we fly away.

Here in our midst are those whose years are in the NINTIES. A couple of them are racing each other to 100 year mark. When our mind attempts to fathom ETERNITY, our earthly life time is but a single blink, then we move on!

Psa 102:25-26  "Of old You founded the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.  (26)  "Even they will perish, but You [Lord] endure; And all of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed. This Psalm records a man afflicted-- praying to His creator expressing the realization of the TEMPORARY status we have here. We try and try to hang on to STUFF, to EMOTIONS, to FLESHLY PLEASURES and TREASURES, but ALAS, they become SLIPPERY, and no matter how hard we try, at our last breath, they slide right out of our hands. At birth We arrive with no Hand Baggage, and when we depart, our hands will likewise be empty.

Luk 12:19-21  'And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry."'  (20)  "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?'  (21)  "So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

In the AFTERMATH of storms like the ones who ganged up on us this year, precious souls become paralyzed, unable to move forward or backward as they confront the enormity of the damage and destruction. They MOURN their stuff. Piles and piles of stuff piled high in their front and back yards. Mountains of memories, destroyed, moldy, smelly, stacked as high as the roof of the house in which they once were stored. A group of Chaplains, including me, traveled to Baton Rouge a few years ago, spending a few weeks after a similar pounding by hurricanes. We went house to house, holding tiny funerals. Not for people, but for their stuff. In each occasion, the solemn remembrance, the LOVE that results from a funeral gave closure and a sense of finality that allowed the families to take that important first step and grieve the loss.

They also found the value of storing up their treasures in Heaven where hurricanes, floods and fires cannot destroy. All they had to do was look deeply into their own souls and see that these same treasures, were safe and in good repair tucked into the archive of memories in their mind.

1Co 13:8  Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it [too] will be done away. Hurricanes and floods and fires will continue to reek havoc on our material possessions. LOVE carves out that special archive in our hearts that safe repository for treasured moments, memories and gifts from Jesus.

SUMMARY 1Pe 1:24-25  For, "ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS, AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS. THE GRASS WITHERS, AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF,  (25)  BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER." And this is the word which was preached to you.

Isa 40:6-8  A voice says, "Call out." Then he answered, "What shall I call out?" All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.  (7)  The grass withers, the flower fades, When the breath of the LORD blows upon it; Surely the people are grass.  (8)  The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.

Everything that makes us unique was ordained by our God when He formed us in our mother's wombs and is manifest as we grow into productive and responsible Children of GOD. The gifts and talents that He gave to His children remain as cherished possessions for all time, and all eternity. Every beat of our heart, every breath we take, every day we live should be lived as if it were our last. Let us look to that distant horizon with joy when our audition on this earth is complete and we finally enter the Kingdom as CITIZENS ETERNAL!!

CLOSING PRAYER We are so thankful, Mighty Lord, that ample room is available in Paradise for the treasures of our heart to be stored for the arrival of us who have chosen to follow Jesus. Earthly treasures will remain, wither, and go away. Naked we came into this world, Naked we shall depart. For the children of Salvation, our treasures and rewards await our arrival into Eternity. We will certainly leave the "SLIPPERY" things behind. But the greatest of all news and hope is that each of us will see when Our Lord calls us home. That great dinner bell will sound, and the table will be set. I promise you, not one of us will miss those SLIPPERY THINGS once we cast our gaze on HIM our CREATOR! Let us bow with great reverence and Awe when we see HIM...as HE truly is, Our God, Amen

TRUST AND OBEY-THAT IS THE WAY!

"And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him." [Joh 8:29] That was of course our Savior Jesus speaking.   As He pleases His Father, we likewise must please our Savior. He is our ROCK and is always with us in all our difficulties, now and forever.

We focus today on a tiny FOUR LETTERED WORD. O-B-E-Y. A word that is truly the KEY that opens the door to eternal life. You will be pleased to know That this same key fits the locks of Earthly life as well. Come along as we discover the wonder of this small empowering and life giving word.

Pray with me; Almighty God, we cannnot fully grasp the perfection of your creation through our own means. As simple creatures we require simple instructions, simple guides. Even then, without direction, such as found in Holy Scripture -- we tend to wander off the page and get into trouble. As our true and Holy Creator, we are reminded over and over again that we must OBEY YOUR will. Teach us, Reach us today, O' Lord, empower us to be Obedient, in Jesus, AMEN.

Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered
. [Heb 5:8]  Jesus was and is our STANDARD as we continue moving toward ETERNITY through OBEDIENCE in CHRIST. It is to HIM by way of the HOLY SPIRIT and HOLY SCRIPTURE that we find the direction and guidance for all things now and forever. It is through JESUS and His obedient suffering that we are granted LIFE ETERNAL the REWARD for our OBEDIENCE.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. [Joh 1:1-3] God spoke! The WORD [JESUS] Obeyed. And All things came into being through Him. JESUS is our unfailing example of faithful OBEDIENCE to which we MUST follow!

There was a little boy about three years old watching his dad use an acetylene torch to cut a piece of angle-iron. The dad warned the boy, DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING I AM CUTTING! It is HOT and you will get burned! As the dad turned to lay the torch down, the child placed his tiny hand on the cherry red end of the angle-iron! A SHREEK of gut-wrenching pain could be heard for a quarter of a mile. I still carry that angled scar on my right hand to this day over 70 years later. That young boy was me!  I've learned a great many lessons about being OBEDIENT and then FAILING to do so! The price for failure to OBEY is often painful. By all rights, I am amazed that I have survived to write this so many years later. To OBEY was NOT my strong suit!! It almost cost me my life on more than one occasion. God had a plan for me. In that plan, I have learned, growning more and more obsessive to OBEY the word of my Lord!

Remember in Luke 2:43 when young Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem to confer with the great minds in the Temple? His mom and Dad finally found him. heard his explanation [that neither of them understood] and a youthful Jesus continued to OBEY his parents --  And He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and He continued in subjection to them; and His mother treasured all these things in her heart. [ Luk 2:51]

It was GOD's will that JESUS would be the vehicle by which a SINFUL and DISOBEDIENT Creation called MAN would be forever SAVED through the sheding of HIS blood --CRUCIFIED on CALVARY -- He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. [ 2Co 5:21]  Our task NOW is to OBEY. Obey by believing, OBEY by following HIS Commands, OBEY by remaining true to HIM as our SAVIOR, our GOD, OUR BROTHER, and head of our Church, HALELUJAH!!

Obedience to the will of God is mandatory. The will of the God is the supreme law. He is the Creator, as such He gets to make the rules. Humans have such a problem with authority! Often a terrible price is paid when we do not obey.

So is the Natural God made laws. An electric powered train was stopped in a small town in India. People be began to crawl on top of the train, many shouts were made to be careful of the 25,000 volt electric wire hovering above. One man laughed, stood up and grabbed the line. In less than a blink of the eye, the man exploded in flames and was no more.

In God's natural laws we quickly learn to obey things like GRAVITY--falling from a high place can quickly end a person's dreams. LAW OF MOTION-- when your car brakes fail to work just as the car heads down a mountain pass. Failure to adhere to the Laws/ Commands of God will certainly lead to a very dark and forever painful eternity. Being OBEDIENT will lead you to His Glory and eternal Life! As the song says "It all started in the Garden of Eden" Here we are thousands of years later and still struggling with Obedience! How well have you learned to Obey?

Pray with me; Father, please accept our pleading for Your mighty empowerment giving us the wisdom and boldness to OBEY Your Word in all that we do. We know right from wrong. Good from Evil. Empower us Holy Spirit guide our path, encourage us and direct us as we OBEY Your will for us. We also ask that our Leaders elected and soon facing selection in this Election also be convicted and empowered to OBEY Holy Scripture as they lead this Great Nation to walk in Your Light, In the Name of JESUS the CHRIST, AMEN.

And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation. [Heb 5:9]

OUR GUIDE IN ALL MATTERS

God's children are not unlike beasts in a well fenced pasture. We all generally do well when there are clearly defined limits of where we should wander. When raising our kids, the parents role is to establish and guide them to the pasture in which the children can freely and safely roam--and they do well. If the fence line is compromised, or a portion fallen, or a gate inadvertently left open, a new set of values could very well influence the mass and then trouble or grave injury might ensue.

There are times when our FAITH, our so called fence line, is robust, strong, highly viable and we do well in our wanderings and our decisions. Our HERD mentality -- when faced with troubles or dangers -- can be quickly be overwhelmed --led astray and our FAITH misplaced because of all the noise, the shouting, the violent outbursts, or perceived threats. Do you see where I am headed?

Our President was hospitalized this week with the COVID-19 pestilence. The news shook the nation and the world. The ether was filled with millions and millions of prayers for Almighty God's deliverance and a hedge of protection for our leader. Prayer is so powerful! Prayer recharges the FAITH level, and clear sight returns.

This morning during devotions, Pastor Charles Spurgeon's words jumped off of the page as I read. Early voting has opened in many states, and the big day, November 3rd is a few short weeks away. Take a moment to read Spurgeon's timeless words and let its application -- through prayer -- be your GUIDE when you attend to casting your vitally important vote -- the vote of TRUTH:

The Leadership of Our Guide

Charles H. Spurgeon

"Howbeit when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all Truth"   (John 16:13).

Truth is like a vast cavern into which we desire to enter, but we are not able to traverse it alone. At the entrance it is clear and bright; but if we would go further and explore its innermost recesses, we must have a guide, or we shall lose ourselves.

The Holy Spirit, who knows all truth perfectly, is the appointed guide of all true believers, and He conducts them as they are able to bear it, from one inner chamber to another, so that they behold the deep things of God, and His secret is made plain to them.

What a promise is this for the humbly inquiring mind! We desire to know the truth and to enter into it. We are conscious of our own aptness to err, and we feel the urgent need of a guide. We rejoice that the Holy Spirit is come and abides among us. He condescends to act as a guide to us, and we gladly accept His leadership. "All truth" we wish to learn, that we may not be one-sided and out of balance.

We would not be willingly ignorant of any part of revelation lest thereby we should miss blessing or incur sin. The Spirit of God has come that He may guide us into all truth: let us with obedient hearts hearken to His words and follow His lead. ~Charles H. Spurgeon
