Who can say, "I have cleansed my heart, I am pure from my sin"?

[Pro 20:9]

This is an excellent question. Grab your Bible and read along;

The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God. They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one. - and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. [Psa 14:2-3 - Rom 8:8]

God is our creator. We are the created. We have no power whatsoever to overcome the sinful propensity that we are born with. ZERO!

For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. - For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. [Rom 7:18-19 - Isa 64:6]

But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. - Namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. [Gal 3:22 - 2Co 5:19]

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

[1Jn 1:8-9]

Wow. After reading all of this the outlook proves it impossible for us on our own, by ourselves. So then, let us restate the original question:

Who can say, "I have cleansed my heart, I am pure from my sin"?

O LORD God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds You. You rule the swelling of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them. [Psa 89:8-9]

The Lord knows when you are struggling. When you carry Him in your heart, He listens to you. He loves the sound of your voice. If He created all there is or all that will ever be, He certainly can bring you through your tribulation.

'Do you not fear Me?' declares the LORD. 'Do you not tremble in My presence? For I have placed the sand as a boundary for the sea, An eternal decree, so it cannot cross over it. Though the waves toss, yet they cannot prevail; Though they roar, yet they cannot cross over it.

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. [Jer 5:22, Isa 43:2]

Jesus never promised that any of us would have an easy time in life. In fact, He warned that we would suffer through difficult times, even dangerous times and death. What Jesus did promise was that no matter where or what kind of pressure we were under, call His name and He is there. Trust in Him, step out in faith. Don't doubt His ability to bring you through.

And He said, "Come!" And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" [Mat 14:29-31]

The Living, breathing Bible, and your trust in Him, and your voice pleading your case in prayer. These are your tools that lead to overcoming life's pressures, worldly concerns and the fear of drowning. They teach and guide you on your wondrous journey that leads all the way to eternity.

I was watching some old commercials from back in the 50's and 60's. They brought back some pretty vivid memories.

As the commercial adventure rolled into the 70's, 80', and 90's, they took on a different vibe. They became more and more akin to a brainwashing device, slowly reprogramming the viewers mind to a socially acceptable manner of behavior.

It suddenly became rather spooky. I never really noticed this trend since I and others were all watching in real time. Viewing the slick salesmanship and repeated themes over decades caused my skin to crawl. I almost puked when It dawned on me what influences had finally gained control of man's brains.

This is real. This is going on right now. I pray that you pay attention. God Loves you; so do I.

AND THIS: Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him — Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. Beloved Friends, Satan has honed his skills for a very long time. Satan knows that his time is running out. He knows that there is no way out of eternal destruction for him and his followers. The pride of "self" has consumed him to the point that, blinded beyond recovery, he will drag as many of you with him into the fires of hell in his last gasp before our God. Don't fall victim to his CRAP. Know the TRUTH.

Joh 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. [2Co 4:6]

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. [Eph 1:17-18]

Luk 16:25

In the Gospel of Luke, chapter 16, our Lord Jesus speaks of a true story about a poor man named Lazrus, and a rich man. They both died. Lazrus the poor one passed first, then followed by the rich man.

Lazrus was being comforted by Abraham while the rich man suffered in flames and agony. Both men had completed their time on earth and had laid down the fleshly tent that confined their soul. The spirit of their lives was returned to Him who created them. Life, as recognized on earth was done, finished, completed. The envelope now lying empty and supine in the coffin...no longer animated by the breath of life, but life has not ended.

Your sun will no longer set, Nor will your moon wane; For you will have the LORD for an everlasting light, And the days of your mourning will be over. [Isa 60:20]

Jesus gave of Himself that through His death and the shedding of His blood, you and I who believe on His name and follow His lead are saved from the sentence of eternal darkness and damnation as we all are of the seed of Adam. Jesus gave us the opportunity to say YES to life and NO to death.

He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken. [Isa 25:8]

As the Holy Spirit led the Spirit of the Apostle John through the Heavenly realm, John saw "a great multitude" which could not be counted. Souls of every language, nation, race and creed standing before the Throne of God, clothed in white robes, palm branches in their hands, all worshiping the Lamb of God. John was asked by his conductor, an Elder, who these people were?

I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. "For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them. "They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." [Rev 7:14-17, 21:4]

Our Father God gave us the ability to chose. In Ecclesiastes we read;

Ecc 10:2 - A wise man's heart directs him toward the right, but the foolish man's heart directs him toward the left. Turning to the RIGHT leads to life in the presence of our Maker, joy, peace, eternal bliss. Turning to the LEFT results in darkness, agony and pain FOREVER.

The lake of fire was created for Satan and his followers. God does not send man to hell. Man sends himself to hell. Jesus made it so simple. Eternity is a very, very long time my friend. You have the choice.

You are at the final intersection, my beloved, REPENT and turn to the RIGHT. Distance yourself from those who have turned LEFT to follow the highway to eternal damnation.

Among animals, God so created them that the nose becomes as important in providing information, perhaps more so than hearing or sight. Smells to a dog, a cat, or a black bear paint a multicolored portrait of their surroundings. The nostrils are powerful to survival in knowing WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY and sometimes HOW. Years ago, good and professional news reporters had a NOSE for these things. Alas, no more!

Humans are not as gifted by our Lord in the sniffing department. The nose for us functions as an early warning detector of dangers; gas leak, hot or burning wires, a full diaper or gingivitis. [Bad Breath]

One useful function of smell for humans is physical compatibility. Seriously! Although we rarely realize this important function of smell, complementary scents of couples attract. Dissimilar odors often result in rejection. Human mothers, blindfolded, can pick out the scents of their infants 9 out of ten times.

God has an amazing and powerful sense of smell; in 2Co 2:15,16, For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one, an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life...

Those facing eternal death carry the stench with them and no amount of Old Spice or Evening in Paris can mask its message. Conversely, the savor of life is fresh, sweet, subtle, as the fragrant rainbow that follows the storm. We humans can detect this aroma. It is the smell of life, the scent of Jesus.

Eagles are capable of seeing a small car-fob sized mouse in a field of grass from an altitude of 5,000 feet. I can barley identify my own car in the Walmart parking lot, and that is with glasses! God can see directly into our hearts. He sees the changes made in us by Christ. No longer repulsed by the vulgarity of sin ever present in the sin filled body. When He looks upon those saved, Christ is what He sees.

Our Lord not only smells Christ in us, He sees His Son through the Holy Spirit that filled us when at that special moment, we believed. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. [ 1Co 13:12]

I look forward to that wonderful, but fearful and reverent moment when my eyes see the Almighty Creator as He is, in His very presence as I bow and worship and serve Him for eternity. Praise You Father, Praise You Jesus, Praise You Holy Spirit, AMEN
