DISCERNMENT OF THESE LAST DAYS

FIVE NEEDED REALITIES FOR DISCERNMENT OF THESE LAST DAYS

On this first entry into the year 2020, I can think of no more appropriate message than the following wisdom provided by Brother Michael Snyder:

Amidst the increased intensity of the strangeness of this hour in history, the Bible also reveals the final weapon of the Devil. This great weapon is the Devil's fine-tuning of deception. If it were possible, the very elect would be deceived (Matthew 24:24).

In order to discern this age, the Christian must possess five realities of life.

First, he must be born again. The reason many professing people do not see what is happening in our day is simply that they are not born again. Jesus stated in John 3 that except a man be born again he can neither enter nor see the kingdom of God. The new birth provides spiritual sight for one to see this age.

Second, one must believe in the supreme authority of God's Word.

Third, one must also have a daily relationship with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the illuminator of God's Word. Although one certainly needs a daily relationship with Christ, it is also imperative that he have that daily relationship with the Holy Spirit to illuminate the Word of God for a spiritual sight of this age.

Fourth, one likewise must be separated from the world. If one is worldly and carnal, he automatically carries a partial blindness toward this age. This partial blindness limits spiritual sight about this age. All Christians must believe in biblical separation from the world.

Finally, one must have a biblical victory over pride. This lack of victory is a problem for a Christian because he does not want to acknowledge when he is wrong. When one does not see spiritually, he may be afraid to acknowledge it. Nonetheless, he must let pride go when true sight is finally revealed. Just swallow the pride, and thank God, the sight came!

The world is blind to itself. Likewise, often the Christian tends to be blind to himself. When the Bible warns that we "be not deceived " (Luke 21:8), it also tells us. "Let no man deceive you" ( 2 Thessalonians 2:3 ) and to make sure that we do not "deceive ourselves " ( 1 John 1:8) H. T. Spence. From: STRAIGHTWAY PUBLICATION.

Thank-You Brother Michael. Happy New Year to all!

INVITE HIM INTO YOUR HEART

But the fruit of the Spirit is...faithfulness.
{Gal 5:22}

We all are saved by GRACE through FAITH in JESUS CHRIST according to HOLY SCRIPTURE all for the GLORY of GOD.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;  not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. {Eph 2:8-9, Heb 11:6}

"He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  Whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. {Joh 3:18, 1Jn 2:5-6}

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love. :  But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? :  For we walk by faith, not by sight—  "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. {Gal 5:6: Jas 2:20, 2Co 5:7, Gal 2:20}

And though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,  obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.
{1Pe 1:8-9

If you have not truly opened your heart to JESUS by confessing with your mouth that He is the Lord. If you believe deeply that JESUS died on an old rugged cross, was buried in a tomb, and was RAISED back to life by the mighty hand of GOD Himself. If you are in awe that JESUS ascended into heaven and is presently seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding for those who believe in Him. If all of this resonates in your very soul, INVITE HIM INTO YOUR HEART! DO IT NOW! Let the start of the year 2020 be the beginning of ETERNAL joy, peace, love, service, adoration. Let 2020 be the year of your BAPTISM by the Holy Spirit and by water. Align yourself with HIS Church, and foster eternal fellowship with your brothers and sisters in CHRIST. It is not the words of your prayers, it is the condition deep inside your heart. Ask JESUS to come in.

THE LAMB OF GOD IN THE TEMPLE

"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.
Isa 7:14

Luk 2:22-40  And when the days for their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord   (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "EVERY firstborn MALE THAT OPENS THE WOMB SHALL BE CALLED HOLY TO THE LORD"),  and to offer a sacrifice according to what was said in the Law of the Lord, "A PAIR OF TURTLEDOVES OR TWO YOUNG PIGEONS."

And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.  And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.  And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law,  then he took Him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,  "Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, According to Your word;  For my eyes have seen Your salvation,  Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples,  A LIGHT OF REVELATION TO THE GENTILES, And the glory of Your people Israel."  And His father and mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him.  And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed—  and a sword will pierce even your own soul—to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed."

And there was a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years and had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,  and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers.  At that very moment she came up and began giving thanks to God, and continued to speak of Him to all those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.

When they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city of Nazareth.  The Child continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.

UNCTION

UNCTION

The Greek word Chrisma' meaning The HOLY Anointing of God on His creation.

Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour.   They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us.   But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. {1Jn 2:18-20}

"You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.- For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him.-- For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. {Act 10:38-Col 1:19--Joh 1:16}

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.-- As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. {Psa 23:5-1Jn 2:27}

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.-- In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. {Joh 14:26-Rom 8:26}

We are firm and stable in our SALVATION when we recognize the changes God has made in us since we called His name and believed in our hearts that He is the Lord. We look backwards at the fleshly indulgences we once practiced, with no remorse, and see repulsion in the reflection. No longer embracing the former sinful behavior, striving constantly to follow in the foot steps of Jesus the Christ in all our present undertakings. The OLD SELF has died, and born out of our belief in Jesus, we are BORN ANEW. We are no longer the same as we once were. It is this CHANGE, this NEW beginning that marks us FOREVER as belonging to Him.   "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. { Joh 10:29}

THE HOARY HAIRS OF AGE

Michael Snyder on the HOARY HAIRS OF AGE

Old age ought to be the most beautiful season of our life, combining all the valuable elements of our past. Old age is venerable.

God Himself is called the Ancient of Days, and He commanded the children of Israel to show reverence to the old, to rise before the hoary head, and to honor the face of the old man. "Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face of the old man, and fear God: I am the LORD." Leviticus 19:32.

Now the character is matured. The results of our experience, of our thought and information, have been winnowed, and have formed themselves into a condensed treasury of terse and lucid wisdom. Old age is venerable, because it reminds us of eternity.

Childhood and youth, and even manhood, remind us of the rapid flight of Time. In them we look forward to the quiet years of our old age. But when old age has actually come, we look forward to eternity.

Soon will the aged man be ushered into the eternal world, and be initiated into its mysteries. In youth and manhood there is also constant change and activity. The quiet and calmness of old age brings before us the everlasting, unchanging Present.

Scripture does not conceal the infirmities and troubles of old age. Its gloomy aspects are brought before us with graphic power in the last chapter of Ecclesiastes. Scripture does not deny that in one view we say of our last years, "I have no pleasure in them."  But how full and glorious is Scripture's description of the perennial youth, peace, strength, and joy of God's children!

In the very psalm which describes man as a frail flower of the field, David praises the Lord, who renews our youth as the eagle. God is the God of the aged. Even to old age, to hoar hairs, will I carry you; I will bear; I will deliver you. Isaiah 46:4.

We are also told, "The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon." Psalm 92:12. The apostle Paul confesses that our old man perishes visibly and daily; but he adds, the inner man is renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16.

So then, for the inner man there is no old age, no decay, no downward descent. Lift up the head, for your redemption is neigh old man, and be glad.

HOW DID THEY MISS HIM??

HOW DID THEY MISS HIM?

The title of this message should probably be "HOW DID WE ALL MISS HIM?"

The HIM is of course Jesus the Christ, The Messiah, the Savior, the King of Kings, Mighty God. There are recorded well over one hundred names in Holy Scripture that identifies the presence and doings of HE who we would come to know as Our LORD, our Savior, Jesus of Nazareth. From the first verse of Genesis to the birth of a son to a virgin by Holy seed, this birth was predicted with uncanny accuracy all through out the Old Testament.

Even in the New Testament, the first words of the Gospel of John paints the unmistakable picture of His presence from before the foundations of the earth;   In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. Joh 1:1-3

Did you know that the more of the Bible you know, the more you know that you don't know? It is that very process that keeps us coming back again and again for more LIGHT, thirsty for more knowledge of the Majesty that is JESUS.

It is a truism that the Jew pictured a warrior in their mind when contemplating the arrival of the Messiah. Warriors like Abraham, Moses, Joshua, David. Their mental image might well have been of a handsome, muscular, dashing man-of-war riding on a white steed, fully dressed in battle armor and carrying a two-edged sword on his side; in order to terminate all the enemies of the Jew.

Examples of our times might be someone like John Wayne or Charlton Heston. Instead, the man who would be King arrived in Jerusalem riding on a donkey, peaceful, gentle, meek, and mild. All those who missed HIM were victimized by their own minds and carnal imaginations.

Grab your Bible, beloved, and travel the road of discovery and prophesy of the coming of the Lord of Lords, Jesus the Christ:

WOULD BE THE SEED OF A WOMAN: Gen 3:15  And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel." FULFILLMENT: Gal 4:4  But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law[The virgin birth]

WILL DESCEND FROM THE TRIBE OF JUDAH: Gen 49:10  "The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes, And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.
FULFILLMENT: Luk 3:33  the son of Amminadab, the son of Admin, the son of Ram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah

BORN OF A VIRGIN: Isa 7:14  "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.
FULFILLMENT: Mat 1:18  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.

HIS REJECTION BY THE JEWS: Isa 53:3  He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
FULFILLMENT: Joh 1:11  He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.

Exercise your Bible Page Turning Muscles and read, in the context, these passages and verses. Read the cited verse, then read the verses before and after. Read the entire chapter of Isaiah Chapter 53.

Your Bible is filled to the brim with the direct prophesy of Jesus our Lord. Blow the dust off of your Bible. Discover the Holy Scripture coming alive and speaking to you. Ask yourself then; HOW DID WE EVER MISS HIM?

God's mighty blessings be upon you and your families as you study the WORD, Amen.

THE DAWN OF SALVATION

For a child will be born to us,...His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
[Isa 9:6]

"Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!
Deu 6:4

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  (2)  He was in the beginning with God.  (3)  All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.  (4)  In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.  (5)  The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.   And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.   "I and the Father are one." [Joh 1:1-5, Joh 1:14, Joh 10:30]

Philip *said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us."  (9)  Jesus *said to him, "Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?   "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."   Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am."
[Joh 14:8-9, Rev 1:8, Joh 8:58]

For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,  (10)  and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority. [Col 2:9-10]

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
Col 1:17

SERMON ON THANKSGIVING

THANKSGIVING WEEK -- SERMON SYNOPSIS

THANK-YOU. Two simple words expressing all manner of appreciation LARGE and small. Powerful are these words to the ear of those who seldom hear such laudatory expressions. Disappointment when the expression --Thank-you-- is expected but fails to arrive. THANK-YOU.....it rolls off the tongue so easily but for some, so difficult to speak. Why?

In a single word---PRIDE!

OPENING PRAYER

O' Mighty Creator, Author of our very lives, we formally devote a single day each year, 24-hours, One Three Hundred Sixty Fifth of an entire year to the corporate celebration and contemplation of giving THANKS. Lord, we approach Your throne duly shamed over the supposed lack of appreciation and slowness of confessing with our mouths a thankful posture for the magnitude of Your demonstrated Love for us, creations of Your very hands. We the created owe a huge debt to Him who created us and to this very moment, continues to pour Grace upon Grace to a contemptuous lot of sin laden creatures. Might we O God, move with our hearts to change that dynamic on this Lord's Day, as we study scripture and loosen stiff necks and soften calloused hearts -- joining together in true Love lifting up our unionized THANKSGIVING that You might continue to hold us all dear. In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, So May it Be, AMEN.

SERMON

There is not one of us. NOT ONE who would not benefit from refining and strengthening our THANKSGIVING MUSCLES. Oh we use those muscles when it is convenient, but most seem to think that someone has to do a good deed for us before we muster up a THANKS! We will thank folks for opening doors for us. For taking away the dinner plate from the dining table. For filling up our sweet-tea glass. Living here in the South, we enjoy a whole bushel basket full of daily thank-you's, unlike our Northern neighbors who are a tad bit stingy in loosing those words. There are times here in the greater Pensacola Area where a Thank-You is actually an admonition. If a TRUE SOUTHERN LADY looks you straight in the eye, with her head slightly cocked one way or the other, and with a big smile says" WELL, I'LL BE.....BLESS YOUR LITTLE PEA-PICKIN HEART....

She is likely telling you POLIITELY that you are full of beans and ya"all need to move along.....

We thank people many times of every day. When was the last time you told GOD how thankful you are that when the SUN rose this morning, so did you!

Holy Scripture has THANKSGIVING weaved into the very fabric of our walk with the Lord:

Deu 8:10  "When you have eaten and are satisfied, you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you.

1Ch 16:8 Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples.

Psa 50:23 "He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me; And to him who orders his way aright I shall show the salvation of God."

Psa 100:4  Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.

Psa 107:22  Let them also offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, And tell of His works with joyful singing.

Col 1:12  Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.

Col 3:15  Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

1Th 5:18  In everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Jesus used the example of the TEN LEPERS to make a point about our prideful failure to render Thanksgiving even in the most extraordinary situations:

Luk 17:11-19  While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee.  (12)  As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him;  (13)  and they raised their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"  (14)  When He saw them, He said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they were going, they were cleansed.  (15)  Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,  (16)  and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan.  (17)  Then Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they?  (18)  "Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?"  (19)  And He said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has made you well."

The Apostle Paul speaks in Corinth of the merit of Cheerful Giving, not just of money or possessions, but in SEWING the very WORD of GOD with others. We call it sharing our Testimony. Paul calls it OBEDIENCE and THANKSGIVING

2Co 9:12-15  For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.  (13)  Because of the proof given by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all,  (14)  while they also, by prayer on your behalf, yearn for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you.  (15)  Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

SUMMARY

The obligation to this duty arises

(1)from the relation we stand-in before God; (2)the divine command; (3)the promises God has made; (4)the example of all good men; (5)our unworthiness of the blessings we receive; (6)the prospect of eternal glory.

Whoever possesses any good without giving thanks for it deprives him who bestows that good of his glory, sets a bad example before others, and prepares a recollection severely painful for himself when he comes in his turn to experience ingratitude. [ Chalmers, Hall, &Dwight, in the Theology Cyclopedia.]

Our God, HE who made us. HE who loves us. HE who pours out HIS grace over and over again, showing us mercy, affection, promise and eternity. HE above all others deserves our frequent and deeply sincere utterances of THANKSGIVING. Thanksgiving using the very BREATH HE gave us.

CLOSING PRAYER

Lord Jesus, Holy Father, Holy Spirit, Our thanksgiving is not just for the life we have in our earthen bodies. We give thanks that You would find it pleasing to share with us glimpses of Your Majesty, of the effects of the moving of Your strong arms and gentle hands. By opening the door to the hearts of others, YOU Lord allow us to be a part of something so much greater than any of us can muster, guiding us to bring Your precious LIGHT into the lives of others who might remain in darkness absent this important favor you grant.

Granting us the privilege of sharing the TRUTH of YOUR GOSPEL by our behavior, our manner, our voice, our touch, our patience and empathy, all direct GIFTS to us by and from YOU, we are permitted to be participants in the greatest miracles ever to occur in this temporary life and journey. From deep in our hearts, O Father, THANK-YOU for finding favor in Your Children, Your Servants, to preach Eternity in a perishing world, thereby blessing us! AMEN and AMEN.

BENEDICTION AND CLOSE

Rev 19:5  And a voice came from the throne, saying, "Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great."

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE -- ARE YOU SAVED?

 ...The form of this world is passing away.

1Co 7:31

  So all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died. -Gen 5:27- Nine Hundred and Sixty-Nine Years! My brain simply cannot imagine a functioning human body of even one hundred and fifty let alone 969. Add to this; breath mints had not yet been invented! Methuselah had to be pretty ripe, I imagine.

Following the GREAT FLOOD, the Lord elected to place a lower limit on man's life. Those who lived into the several hundreds of years seemed to have much more time to find and develop trouble;  Then the LORD said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years."- Gen 6:3-
From 900 plus years to about 120 is quite a reduction. Man, none-the-less, continued to be "Stiff-Necked" and Satan was pleased.

This Earthly death paid no attention to man's status or his social standing. Death was and is an equal opportunity event.

But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.  For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away. -Jas 1:9-11-

It is to every person living to die ONCE! From here on out, nobody will escape. Rich, poor, Black, White, Brown, male, female. God's calendar has the date and the precise time that we will each draw our last breath.  The world is passing away, and also its lusts; BUT the one who does the will of God lives forever. - 1Jn 2:17-

"LORD, make me to know my end And what is the extent of my days; Let me know how transient I am. -Psa 39:4-, God answered that prayer by further reducing our days on earth and having Moses deliver the news in Psalm 90 and Verse 10;  As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, Or if due to strength, eighty years, Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; For soon it is gone and we fly away.- Psa 90:10-

If by chance you have calculated that you will live to be at least 70, perhaps 80 or even ninety, and have yet refused to seek the Salvation of Christ Jesus, hoping to do so at the last minute......The eternal fires of Hell might be your reward. The salvation is there, waiting, the words are in your mouth, the belief is in your heart but YOU HAVE TO ASK! You must CONFESS with you mouth, JESUS is LORD. You must believe that JESUS died and was resurrected to life from the dead by the mighty hand of Father God. I doubt seriously that in those precious seconds in a massive heart-attack, or a paralyzing stroke, or overwhelming trauma in a car crash, or other method of imminent death that you will spend precious seconds to get right with God. The destination AFTER DEATH is your choice; HEAVEN or HELL, [the second death].

Don't wait. Take care of this now, today. You may not be on the God's calendar tomorrow.

LIFE -- A PAINTED DREAM

LIFE IS LIKE A PAINTED DREAM

A Michael Snyder Gram

For this is our God for ever: he will be our guide even unto death.” Psalm 48:14. The world passes away.

Everything here in this present world is changing. “Life is like a painted dream; Like the rapid summer stream;Like the fleeting meteor’s ray;Like the shortest winter’s day;Like the fitful breeze that sighs; Like the waning flame that dies; Darting, dazzling on the eye; Fading in eternity.” A rope of sand, a spider’s web, a silken thread, a passing shadow , an ebbing wave, are the most fitting and expressive emblems of all things belonging to this present earthly state.

The homes that sheltered us in childhood we leave. The land which gave us birth we leave. The loved ones who enriched our hearths pass away. The friends of early years depart. And the world that was so sunny, and life that was so sweet, is all beclouded and embittered - the whole scenery of existence changed into wintry gloom. Such are the saddening, depressing effects of life’s vicissitudes.

BUT in the midst of it all, “this God is our God for ever and ever!” All beings change but God. All things change but heaven. The evolutions of time revolve, the events of earth go onward, but He upon whom all things hang, and by whom all events are shaped and controlled, moves not. “For I am the Lord, I CHANGE NOT.” Our affairs may alter. Our circumstances may change. Our relations and friends may depart one by one.

Our souls in a single day pass through many fluctuations of spiritual feeling. But He who chose us to be His own, and who has kept us to the present moment, is our covenant God and Father forever and ever, and will never throw us off and cast us away. “For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.” Paul was persuaded of this truth, he said,” For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8;38-39.
