I looked in the mirror

As the mirror looked back at me this morning, a short sigh passed my lips. Was this me? Was this old fellow, with advancing wrinkles, really a true reflection of the me looking on? The mirror seems so unkind because it can only reflect the truth that it sees. Truth. The mirror speaks truth in the present. The mirror also reminds us of the truth of the past.

The rear-view mirror alerts us of things past that could be a future or present problem if not corrected. A glance in the rear-view mirror can save us a lot of heartache as we avoid mistakes of yesteryear. Strangely, things seem to look different, viewed through the rear-view mirror!

The morning will bring a fresh start. God heralds this new day with His artistry in the morning clouds. Reds and oranges, yellows and sapphire blues, silvers and golds in all kinds of hues. Our Lord gives us each day brand new, ever fresh, never the same nor repeated from the beginning of time. Each day fulfills His promise, His grace, His love.

The morrow will reveal the newness of the year. Yet another fresh start. A God given opportunity to learn from the reflection of the past. To grasp the weight the gift God offers to each and everyone of you. The chance to leave the past in the past. To clear your path in the present. To light your path in the future to a place of peace and joy and love that cannot be fully comprehended by our limited human minds. This wonderful gift is yours, won't you ask for it?

(Rom 10:9, 10) that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

Start your year from a place of strength, of love, of peace, of joy, by welcoming into your hearts our Creator, our Lord, our King, Jesus of Nazareth, Son of Almighty God, Amen.

Birth Pains

As each day passes, it seems that we are thrust forward yet another step towards extreme violence and hatred all around the globe. Never in my lifetime has there been such vulgarity in the public square.

We celebrate the most wonderful birth in our earthly history this month. The Christ, Jesus of Nazareth, the very Son of God. The Light of the world arriving to make right that which man caused to go horribly wrong. The door-opened to sin and to death and the planting of the seed from which today's hatred is being harvested. The hate-filled crop has grown like weeds and our earth is rapidly being consumed by the thorns and thistles of anger, pride, selfishness, God-less-ness and carnal horror.

I truly recommend that you spend time each and every day in the Word. Make it a practice to read and learn the Bible. In His word you will find comfort. Comfort in knowing that the Almighty is absolutely in-charge and events are moving forward just as they are described and forecast in Scripture.

Turn off the TV. Unplug the Twitter, deactivate the Facebook and poke your nose into the living history and prophesy of God's Word.

"Your sun will no longer set, Nor will your moon wane; For you will have the LORD for an everlasting light, And the days of your mourning will be over.

"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life.

I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. "For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them. "They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes."

Show me your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths

Moses said to the LORD, "See, You say to me, 'Bring up this people!' But You Yourself have not let me know whom You will send with me. Moreover, You have said, 'I have known you by name, and you have also found favor in My sight.'; "Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight. Consider too, that this nation is Your people."; And He said, "My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest." – He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the sons of Israel.

He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way; Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way he should choose. – Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. – You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever. I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. The wisdom of the sensible is to understand his way, But the foolishness of fools is deceit.

Rescue the Perishing
(Jud 1:23) save others, snatching them out of the fire.....
Words: Fannie J. Cosby 1820-1915
Music: William H. Doane 1832-1915

Rescue the perishing, Care for the dying, Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave; Weep o'er the erring one, Lift up the fallen, tell them of Jesus the mighty to save.

Tho' they are slighting Him, Still He is waiting, Waiting the penitent child to receive; Plead with them earnestly, Plead with them gently, He will forgive if they only believe.

Down in the human heart, Crushed by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness, Chords that are broken will vibrate once more.

Rescue the perishing, Care for the dying, Strength for Thy labor the Lord will provide; Back to the narrow way, Patiently win them, Tell the poor wand'rer a Savior has died.

Rescue the perishing, Care for the dying; Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.

Dust to Dust

The dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it. – So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. – The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven.

By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, and to dust you shall return." – One dies in his full strength, Being wholly at ease and satisfied; While another dies with a bitter soul, Never even tasting anything good. Together they lie down in the dust, And worms cover them.

Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely. – Even after my skin is destroyed, Yet from my flesh I shall see God;
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.

LORD, make me to know my end And what is the extent of my days; Let me know how transient I am. – So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom. In Christ, Amen.

For You girded me with strength for battle.

... For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Then Asa cried to Adonai his God and said, “Adonai, there is no one like You to help in battle between the mighty and the powerless. Help us, Adonai Eloheinu, for we rely on You and in Your Name we have come against this multitude. You are Adonai Eloheinu! Let no man prevail against You.” – Jehoshaphat cried out. – Adonai helped him.

It is better to take refuge in Adonai than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in Adonai than to trust in princes. – No king is saved by his great army, no warrior is delivered by great strength. A horse is a false hope for victory, nor can its great strength save.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the worldly forces of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist when the times are evil, and after you have done everything, to stand firm.

Christian Perfection

(Php 3:12) Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.

The writings of Oswald Chambers struck a chord in my heart this morning. The words triggered a self examination, a gut-check to determine if what Pastor Chambers wrote about applied to me. Well, I read and I am convicted.

As you absorb and ponder Chamber's words below, realize that none of us will remain as unfinished stones in that house, eternal in the heavens. We are already there, but the painful process of “fitting” us to the builder's use is on going. Uncomfortable adjustments will continue to be made in us until, at our last breath, we are placed, perfectly fitted, formed, and adjusted.......One With HIM!

It is a snare to imagine that God wants to make us perfect specimens of what He can do; God’s purpose is to make us one with Himself. The emphasis of holiness movements is apt to be that God is producing specimens of holiness to put in His museum. If you go off on this idea of personal holiness, the dead-set of your life will not be for God, but for what you call the manifestation of God in your life. “It can never be God’s will that I should be sick,” you say. If it was God’s will to bruise His own Son, why should He not bruise you? The thing that tells for God is not your relevant consistency to an idea of what a saint should be, but your real vital relation to Jesus Christ, and your abandonment to Him whether you are well or ill.

Christian perfection is not, and never can be, human perfection. Christian perfection is the perfection of a relationship to God which shows itself amid the irrelevancies of human life. When you obey the call of Jesus Christ, the first thing that strikes you is the irrelevancy of the things you have to do, and the next thing that strikes you is the fact that other people seem to be living perfectly consistent lives. Such lives are apt to leave you with the idea that God is unnecessary, by human effort and devotion we can reach the standard God wants. In a fallen world this can never be done. I am called to live in perfect relation to God so that my life produces a longing after God in other lives, not admiration for myself. Thoughts about myself hinder my usefulness to God. God is not after perfecting me to be a specimen in His show-room; He is getting me to the place where He can use me. Let Him do what He likes.

If only I knew where to find Him...
(Compiled using the Tree of Life Hebrew Bible)

Who among you fears Adonai? Who hears the voice of His servant? Who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the Name of Adonai and lean on his God.

You will seek Me and find Me, when you will search for Me with all your heart. --- “So I say to you, ‘Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.’

What we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so you may have fellowship with us. Indeed, our fellowship is with the Father and His Son, Yeshua the Messiah. --- But now in Messiah Yeshua, you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of the Messiah. For through Him we both have access to the Father by the same Ruach.

If we say we have fellowship with Him and keep walking in the darkness, we are lying and do not practice the truth.

And remember! I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” For God Himself has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you,”--- I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper so He may be with you forever—
the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him. You know Him, because He abides with you and will be in you.

The Bible and Thanksgiving

(Neh 12:27) Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites from all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem so that they might celebrate the dedication with gladness, with hymns of thanksgiving and with songs to the accompaniment of cymbals, harps and lyres.

(Psa 26:7) That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving And declare all Your wonders.

(Psa 95:2) Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

(Psa 100:1) A Psalm for Thanksgiving. Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth.

(Psa 100:4) Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.

(Psa 147:7) Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; Sing praises to our God on the lyre,

(Jer 30:19) 'From them will proceed thanksgiving And the voice of those who celebrate; And I will multiply them and they will not be diminished; I will also honor them and they will not be insignificant.

(Php 4:6) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

(Col 4:2) Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;

(Rev 7:12) saying, "Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen."

(Col 4:2) Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;

(Rev 7:12) saying, "Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen."

A Prayer at Thanksgiving

(Psa 100:1) A Psalm for Thanksgiving. Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth.

Oh Lord, our God, what words could we possibly use to express all that we are truly thankful for in this season? To us, Lord, all the words in our fleshly minds fall so very short to even begin the expression.

How, Father, do we demonstrate our love for You, especially in light of the inexpressible love that You give us? It seems so inadequate, so weak.

Know, Father God, that we each hold you in deep reverence, in awe, as you are our Creator, and we are your created. This knowledge, this equation, shall always be at the forefront of our minds and in our hearts in all our doings under Your grace. You are the Potter, and in Your hands we serve as clay.

This year has been tough as mourning and grief made an appearance. Promises made and promises not kept opened the door to a period of sadness and disappointment. The joy in being witness to the beginning of a new life brought a smile to the heart. In amongst all of the usual noise, just seeing the mighty works of Your hand open doors and close others was breath taking!

We are so very thankful, Jesus, that the Holy Spirit resides deep inside our hearts, and by His counsel and guidance we move forward in the Light and on the path of righteousness in Your name's sake.

New directions have been received from on-high, directions that require stepping out in-faith, trusting only in Your Word, quickening our heartbeats as we ponder this new calling. Our faith is in You, our Lord, and in You we place our full trust, may it be by Your will, not ours, Amen and Amen.

Fellow Citizens in the House of God

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God. --But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect...

These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself...Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.

Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.

....Is it well with you?
..She answered, it is well.

But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I BELIEVED, THEREFORE I SPOKE," we also believe, therefore we also speak,
as unknown yet well-known, as dying yet behold, we live; as punished yet not put to death, as sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing yet possessing all things.

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing;
persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

Wait on the Lord

What we are seeing unfold was told us from long ago. The events we see on TV and read about in the internet should not take any of Christ's Flock by surprise. The anger, the hate, the vulgarity and polarity was foretold. Here it is. We are living it, at least the beginning birth pains of the end times.

(Mat 24:10) "At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another.

(Luk 12:53) "They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."

Our Lord was forced to rebuke Peter, getting his attention when Peter began to rely on the carnal and not the ordained;

(Mat 16:23) But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God's interests, but man's."

Today, more than at any other time in our memories, Satan is pulling out all the stops to upset, delay, degrade and scuttle that which our Lord has set into motion. It is absolutely vital that we pay attention, stay in the Word, and pray with and for our brothers and sisters. Pray for ourselves that we not fall into the deception of the Master of Lies. “No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” (2Co 11:14)

(Rev 3:9) 'Behold, I will cause those of the synagogue of Satan, who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie--I will make them come and bow down at your feet, and make them know that I have loved you.

How can you tell if Satan is fooling you?
Satan has no patience. The CURE = Wait on the Lord.
Satan causes you to make quick decisions. The CURE = Wait on the Lord.
Satan creates divisions. The CURE = Wait on the Lord.
Satan creates turmoil. The CURE = Wait on the Lord.

To overcome the temptation of Satan, you must be patient. You MUST wait and test each life decision through the Word, through the Living Water, through prayer.

You are a child of God, a precious member of the Royal Family. Use the power that God gave you. Prayer, Faith, Grace, the Word. Make no important life decisions quickly. Pray, and then.......WAIT ON THE LORD!

(Rom 16:20) The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.
