DECLARATION
For
[we are not] ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of
God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and
also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed
from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

[Sing to the Lord, lift up your voices]
OPENING PRAYER
O' Mighty Father, we are so very blessed to be gathered here on this Holy Day, to worship You, learn from You, and feel the presence of Your holiness in our congregation. Grant us collective open ears, minds, and our very souls to Your Word and message, all in the name of Jesus, the Christ, AMEN.
MESSAGE
As we open our Bibles on this Holy Day, we recognize that His time is near.
(Joh 10:23) It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple in the portico of Solomon.
(Joh 10:24) The Jews then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, "How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly."
(Joh 10:25) Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father's name, these testify of Me.
(Joh 10:26) "But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep.
(Joh 10:27) "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
(Joh 10:28) and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
(Joh 10:29) "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
(Joh 10:30) "I and the Father are one."
(Joh 10:31) The Jews picked up stones ... to stone Him.
(Joh 10:37) "If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;
(Joh 10:38) but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father."
(Joh 10:39) Therefore they were seeking again to seize Him, and He eluded their grasp.
(Joh 10:40) And He went away again beyond the Jordan to the place where John was first baptizing, and He was staying there.
(Joh 10:41) Many came to Him and were saying, "While John performed no sign, yet everything John said about this man was true."
(Joh 10:42) Many believed in Him there.
(Joh 11:1) Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
(Joh 11:2) It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.
(Joh 11:3) So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick."
(Joh 11:4) But when Jesus heard this, He said, "This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it."
(Joh 11:5) Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
(Joh 11:6) So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was.
(Joh 11:7) Then after this He *said to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again."
(Joh 11:8) The disciples *said to Him, "Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone You, and are You going there again?"
(Joh 11:9) Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
(Joh 11:10) "But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."
(Joh 11:11) This He said, and after that He *said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep."
(Joh 11:12) The disciples then said to Him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover."
(Joh 11:13) Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep.
(Joh 11:14) So Jesus then said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead,
(Joh 11:15) and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him."
(Joh 11:17) So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.
(Joh 11:18) Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off;
(Joh 11:19) and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother.
(Joh 11:20) Martha therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet Him, but Mary stayed at the house.
(Joh 11:21) Martha then said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
(Joh 11:22) "Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."
(Joh 11:23) Jesus *said to her, "Your brother will rise again."
(Joh 11:24) Martha *said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."
(Joh 11:25) Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,
(Joh 11:26) and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?"
(Joh 11:27) She *said to Him, "Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world."
(Joh 11:28) When she had said this, she went away and called Mary her sister, saying secretly, "The Teacher is here and is calling for you."
(Joh 11:29) And when she heard it, she *got up quickly and was coming to Him.
(Joh 11:32) Therefore, when Mary came where Jesus was, she saw Him, and fell at His feet, saying to Him, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died."
(Joh 11:33) When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled;
(Joh 11:34) Jesus said, "Where have you laid him?" They *said to Him, "Lord, come and see."
(Joh 11:35) Jesus wept. He wept not out of emotion but was moved by the continued shallow belief not only of the family, Mary and Martha, but of the mass of mourners gathered.
He was troubled in His heart and Spirit because so many readily expressed their self confessed belief in Him, but could not seem to take that next confident step, that leap of Faith that instantly destroys all doubt in His Holy Word.
He wept because their FAITH was weak. They could not grasp that which was about to occur before their very eyes! He would not be with them much longer, their faith must grow. Faith in that which they will no longer see; Jesus..in the flesh!
(Joh 11:36) So the Jews were saying, "See how He loved him!"
(Joh 11:37) But some of them said, "Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind man, have kept this man also from dying?"
(Joh 11:38) So Jesus, again being deeply moved within, *came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone was lying against it.
(Joh 11:39) Jesus *said, "Remove the stone." Martha, the sister of the deceased, *said to Him, "Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days." {in the King James Martha says, "He Stinketh"}
(Joh 11:40) Jesus *said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?"
(Joh 11:41) So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised His eyes, and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
(Joh 11:42) "I knew that You always hear Me; but because of the people standing around I said it, so that they may believe that You sent Me."
(Joh 11:43) When He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth."
(Joh 11:44) The man who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus *said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."
(Joh 11:45) Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary, and saw what He had done, believed in Him.
(Joh 11:46) But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done.
(Joh 11:47) Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and were saying, "What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs.
(Joh 11:48) "If we let Him go on like this, all men will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation."
(Joh 11:49) But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all,
(Joh 11:50) nor do you take into account that it is expedient for you that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish."
(Joh 11:51) Now he did not say this on his own initiative, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,
(Joh 11:52) and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.
(Joh 11:53) So from that day on they planned together to kill Him.
SUMMARY
The Great Mystery of the Resurrection from the dead to the living is very difficult to grasp. The natural mind cannot see beyond the grave. Unaware that we all are of the Natural and our fleshly tent must be shed and returned to the earth from whence it came. Along the way we then learn, through Holy Scripture, that we are also of the Spiritual, living eternally in Jesus.
CLOSING PRAYER
Almighty and awesome God, Creator of all that there is, or ever will be, what we have learned through scripture this Holy Day is witness and testimony of Your immeasurable power to fashion and mold the elements that influence and guide the progress of Your great will. A will that extends unfathomable distances and spans every generation from the moment of creation to the coming of New Jerusalem. We celebrate this in the name of Jesus the Christ, AMEN
