SUNDAY MESSAGE

"THE SHEPHERD AND LAZARUS"

John Chapters 10-11

[Sing to the Lord, lift up your voices]

OPENING PRAYER

O' Mighty Father, we are so very blessed to be gathered here on this Holy Day, to worship You, learn from You, and feel the presence of Your holiness in our congregation. Grant us collective open ears, minds, and our very souls to Your Word and message, all in the name of Jesus, the Christ, AMEN.

MESSAGE

As we open our Bibles on this Holy Day, we recognize that His time is near.

(Joh 10:23) It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple in the portico of Solomon.

(Joh 10:24) The Jews then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, "How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly."

(Joh 10:25) Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father's name, these testify of Me.

(Joh 10:26) "But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep.

(Joh 10:27) "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;

(Joh 10:28) and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.

(Joh 10:29) "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.

(Joh 10:30) "I and the Father are one."

(Joh 10:31) The Jews picked up stones ... to stone Him.

(Joh 10:37) "If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;

(Joh 10:38) but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father."

(Joh 10:39) Therefore they were seeking again to seize Him, and He eluded their grasp.

(Joh 10:40) And He went away again beyond the Jordan to the place where John was first baptizing, and He was staying there.

(Joh 10:41) Many came to Him and were saying, "While John performed no sign, yet everything John said about this man was true."

(Joh 10:42) Many believed in Him there.

(Joh 11:1) Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.

(Joh 11:2) It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.

(Joh 11:3) So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick."

(Joh 11:4) But when Jesus heard this, He said, "This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it."

(Joh 11:5) Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

(Joh 11:6) So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was.

(Joh 11:7) Then after this He *said to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again."

(Joh 11:8) The disciples *said to Him, "Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone You, and are You going there again?"

(Joh 11:9) Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

(Joh 11:10) "But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."

(Joh 11:11) This He said, and after that He *said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep."

(Joh 11:12) The disciples then said to Him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover."

(Joh 11:13) Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep.

(Joh 11:14) So Jesus then said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead,

(Joh 11:15) and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him."

(Joh 11:17) So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.

(Joh 11:18) Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off;

(Joh 11:19) and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother.

(Joh 11:20) Martha therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet Him, but Mary stayed at the house.

(Joh 11:21) Martha then said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.

(Joh 11:22) "Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."

(Joh 11:23) Jesus *said to her, "Your brother will rise again."

(Joh 11:24) Martha *said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."

(Joh 11:25) Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,

(Joh 11:26) and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?"

(Joh 11:27) She *said to Him, "Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world."

(Joh 11:28) When she had said this, she went away and called Mary her sister, saying secretly, "The Teacher is here and is calling for you."

(Joh 11:29) And when she heard it, she *got up quickly and was coming to Him.

(Joh 11:32) Therefore, when Mary came where Jesus was, she saw Him, and fell at His feet, saying to Him, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died."

(Joh 11:33) When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled;

(Joh 11:34) Jesus said, "Where have you laid him?" They *said to Him, "Lord, come and see."

(Joh 11:35) Jesus wept. He wept not out of emotion but was moved by the continued shallow belief not only of the family, Mary and Martha, but of the mass of mourners gathered.

He was troubled in His heart and Spirit because so many readily expressed their self confessed belief in Him, but could not seem to take that next confident step, that leap of Faith that instantly destroys all doubt in His Holy Word.

He wept because their FAITH was weak. They could not grasp that which was about to occur before their very eyes! He would not be with them much longer, their faith must grow. Faith in that which they will no longer see; Jesus..in the flesh!

(Joh 11:36) So the Jews were saying, "See how He loved him!"

(Joh 11:37) But some of them said, "Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind man, have kept this man also from dying?"

(Joh 11:38) So Jesus, again being deeply moved within, *came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone was lying against it.

(Joh 11:39) Jesus *said, "Remove the stone." Martha, the sister of the deceased, *said to Him, "Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days." {in the King James Martha says, "He Stinketh"}

(Joh 11:40) Jesus *said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?"

(Joh 11:41) So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised His eyes, and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.

(Joh 11:42) "I knew that You always hear Me; but because of the people standing around I said it, so that they may believe that You sent Me."

(Joh 11:43) When He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth."

(Joh 11:44) The man who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus *said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."

(Joh 11:45) Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary, and saw what He had done, believed in Him.

(Joh 11:46) But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done.

(Joh 11:47) Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and were saying, "What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs.

(Joh 11:48) "If we let Him go on like this, all men will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation."

(Joh 11:49) But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all,

(Joh 11:50) nor do you take into account that it is expedient for you that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish."

(Joh 11:51) Now he did not say this on his own initiative, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,

(Joh 11:52) and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.

(Joh 11:53) So from that day on they planned together to kill Him.

SUMMARY

The Great Mystery of the Resurrection from the dead to the living is very difficult to grasp. The natural mind cannot see beyond the grave. Unaware that we all are of the Natural and our fleshly tent must be shed and returned to the earth from whence it came. Along the way we then learn, through Holy Scripture, that we are also of the Spiritual, living eternally in Jesus.

CLOSING PRAYER

Almighty and awesome God, Creator of all that there is, or ever will be, what we have learned through scripture this Holy Day is witness and testimony of Your immeasurable power to fashion and mold the elements that influence and guide the progress of Your great will. A will that extends unfathomable distances and spans every generation from the moment of creation to the coming of New Jerusalem. We celebrate this in the name of Jesus the Christ, AMEN

SUNDAY MESSAGE

PSA 91:2

[Sing to the Lord, lift up your voices]

OPENING PRAYER

Father God, Lord Jesus, we humbly come before you on this Holy Day offering corporate prayers for Israel and the United States of America in the heat of war so very near the borders of many of our allies. Create a canopy of safety around those in the fight, and we pray Your Will be done! We also ask for Your divine intercession for those in our community who are suffering illness, injury or loneliness. Touch them and fill them with You, in Jesus, AMEN

MESSAGE

This opening set of verses in Exo 17:8-15 Sets the historic stage of the conflicts and wars that have been going on without abatement since, at least, 1447BC. :

Then Amalek {a descendant of Esau, -in the line of Ishmael.} came and fought against Israel at Rephidim. {a Wadi located near mount Sinai } (9) So Moses said to Joshua, "Choose men for us and go out, fight against Amalek. Tomorrow I will station myself on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand."

(10) Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought against Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. (11) So it came about when Moses held his hand up, that Israel prevailed, and when he let his hand down, Amalek prevailed. (12) But Moses' hands were heavy. Then they took a stone and put it under [Moses], and he sat on it; and Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other. Thus his hands were steady until the sun set.

(13) [As a result] Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. (14) Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write this in a book as a memorial and recite it to Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven." (15) Moses built an altar and named it The LORD is My Banner...

We who have given ourselves to the Lord Jesus understands the meaning of carrying the Lord's Banner with us; If God is for us, who is against us? {Rom 8:31 NASB} It gives me such comfort knowing that The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do to me? {Psa 118:6}

From times immorial soldiers have gathered for the blessing of the Lord before entering battles. Deu 20:1-4 Tells us; "When you go out to battle against your enemies...do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you. (2) "When you are approaching the battle, the [Chaplain] shall come near and speak to the warriors. (3) "He shall say to them, 'Hear, O Soldiers, you are approaching the battle against your enemies today. Do not be fainthearted. Do not be afraid, or panic, or tremble before them, (4) for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.' {Deu 20:1-4 NASB}

Often, the Chaplain will, by the will of God, pray for additional blessings as we find in; Psa 91:5-8; You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day; (6) Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. (7) A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you. (8) You will only look on with your eyes And see the recompense of the wicked.

SUMMARY

In twenty three years of service as an Army soldier, I personally have stood in many military formations preparing to depart to join a mission. Likewise the formations upon our return from places far away, and being so blessed to be able to stand with my brothers and sisters; proud of what the Lord trusted us with and what we accomplished by HIS grace and Mercy. I have witnessed directly the words of the Chaplain at departure, and the beautiful words as he welcomed us back to the land of the free.

Several years ago, around Easter time, the Lord so blessed me with the opportunity of being present at Camp Rudder and the return of a number of soldiers, slowly, silently moving out of the dark wood line in the middle of nowhere, at first light, having completed the last leg of U.S. Army Rangers Training.

These soldiers had survived the most demanding and dangerous military training on the planet. In a short while, they each would find out if they made it through. None of them knew with certainty. Some will return to their units, having only the experience BUT NOT HAVING WON.. THE TAB!

In a clearing, the Chaplain sat these worn and tired warriors in some metal bleachers, facing the Altar. He prayed and updated them on world events over the past 60 plus days! He delivered the most incredible sermon of Faith, Courage, and the love of a brother Ranger, the Chaplain himself. Many of those, that I was honored to be with that day, are now leading the way in today's operations overseas. Pray for them!

As a soldier in the Army of the Lord, you have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. {Psa 60:4 NKJV} The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

Though an [enemy] should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

Behold, God himself is with us as our captain.--The Lord of hosts is

with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. We Trust and Obey, that is the way...of the Lord.

They shall make war with the Lamb...and the Lamb shall overcome them.

CLOSING PRAYER

We pray for the citizens of Israel, the middle East and innocents in Iran. We plead for stability, safety and a new beginning. We pray for stamina, courage, patience, awareness and for GOD's PEACE. All in the name of Jesus the Christ, The Messiah, AMEN

SUNDAY MESSAGE

"SPRINKLED BLOOD OF ABEL SPEAKS"

Hebrews 12:24

[Sing to the Lord, lift up your voices]

OPENING PRAYER

Awesome Creator of all that there is, thank You for gathering us on this Holy day, in congregation, to worship and to grow in knowledge of You and the life sustaining blood, the elixir that flows through our earthly bodies. Through Your divine grace grant us open ears, eyes, and souls as we receive Your message. In the name above all names, Jesus the Christ, AMEN.

MESSAGE

It is all about the blood. It has always been about the blood. It will continue to the last breath about the blood! The Bible has taught me that God can hear the cry of spilled blood. He knows when it is shed and the why behind it's spilling.

{In Gen 4:8-11}, Cain told Abel his brother [what God had said to him.] Cain was a dirt farmer and presented his crops as offerings to the Lord, but it was Cain's attitude and motivation that was sinful. He rebelled against God, turning his back to the Creator.

Abel became a shepherd thus his offering was the burnt fat of a first born lamb upon the stone altar. Abel believed and sought to obey the commands of God and Abel's offering was well received. Cain's offering was not accepted, due to Cain's unbelief of who God was. And it came about when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.

(9) Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" And [Cain] said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?" (10) [God said], "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to Me from the ground. (11) "Now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. This was the first recorded murder at the hand of man.

The first shedding of blood of a living creature was not by the hand of man, but, by the hand of God Himself, long before the slaying of Abel.

{Gen 3:21} records; "The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them." A living creature gave its blood, and its skin so that Adam and Eve could cover their nakedness. The nakedness that neither one had any realization that it was different because of their innocence; instantly replaced by LUST! Ahh, that beautifully tasty fruit of knowledge!

After the couple was banished FOREVER from the Garden of Eden, {Deu 12:27} introduces us to the Lord's instructions regarding BLOOD and the SACRIFICIAL ALTAR; The Lord says, "And you shall offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on the altar of the LORD your God; and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out on the altar of the LORD your God, and you shall eat the flesh. And this writing from {Deu 15:23} " "...You shall not eat its blood; you are to pour it out on the ground like water.

Gen 9:1-4 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. (2) "The fear of you and the terror of you will be on every beast of the earth and on every bird of the sky; with everything that creeps on the ground, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand they are given. (3) "Every moving thing that is alive shall be food for you; I give all to you, as I gave the green plant. (4) "Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.

SUMMARY

John the Baptist exclaimed, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. The ENTIRE WORLD! This is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." His pure sweet blood shed as propitiation for our sins, but especially the original sin, that of Adam, so long ago. We are the seed of the union of Adam and Eve, the first mother, the first father of humans. As such, the sin and the cursed seed is in all of us. The BLOOD of the LAMB offers salvation to those who believe.

The Bible says "it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins." Only a temporary atonement/penalty, one of the shedding of BLOOD for sins committed. Therefore, when Jesus came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body You have prepared for me"; By that we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus the Christ once for all.

When we began receiving this teaching from our Lord today, there was so much Holy power in that very first paragraph; ["Its all about the blood. It has always been about the blood. It will continue to the last breath about the blood! The Bible has taught me that God can hear the cry of the blood. He knows when it is shed and the why behind it's spilling."] This statement is so very profound in that all roads lead to JESUS! {Heb 12:24} ...and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better [and louder] than the blood of Abel.

And JESUS wept.

CLOSING PRAYER

O' Awesome Lord Jesus, our King and Savior, we are constantly in a state of extreme awe when we consider how frail we truly are in your presence. Our fleshly tents are temporary by Your design, You, however, have always been, are present now, and will always be. We pray with anticipation for the time when we will be with You, serving You, honoring You with love and reverential fear forever. In the name Jesus the Christ, thank You for loving us! AMEN.
