SUNDAY MESSAGE

"MERCY TO THE UNDESERVING"

Psa 32:10

[Sing to the Lord, lift up your voices]

OPENING PRAYER

Mighty Creator of the universe, bless Your Holy Name and thank You for gathering us all together in congregation as we worship our Savior and learn from Your message. Grant us open ears, hearts, minds and souls as we absorb The Word in Jesus the Christ, AMEN, so may it be!

MESSAGE

Pastor Charles Hadden Spurgeon, (1834-1892;{58 yrs}), was affectionately known in England and around the world as the "Prince of Preachers". It is in his writings that he superbly expresses God driven mysteries; UN-winding them to the benefit of inquiring minds. Spurgeon used the Holy Gift of a "child-like mind" to extend the horizons of the Creator's passion for MERCY by extending His Grace even to the undeserving. Jesus encourgaes us to approach the Gospel Message with a "child like mind" as we read in {Mar 10:15 NKJV}--[Jesus said]; Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."

As we continue we will soon discover WHO these undeserving creatures are a bit later in this message.

It is on this topic the PREACHER Spurgeon opines; "The truster above all men feels himself to be a sinner; yet, mercy is prepared for him. LORD, give me this mercy, even as I trust in you!" "Observe my soul, what a bodyguard you have! Before and behind, and on all sides, ride these mounted guards of grace. We dwell in the center of the system of mercy, for we dwell in Christ Jesus."

{Faith's Checkbook; Charles H. Spurgeon; ISBN 978-1-77036-239-0}

Our anchor verse reveals that even the undeserving sinner,-- and here --I want to remind everyone that we ALL ARE SINNERS! (Psa 32:10 KJV) Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.

In His last hour of earthly life on that old cross, our Savior in the midst of gut-wrenching pain, He musters the divine power to extend mercy to a most undeserving man who hung also on a tree next to Him. The dying sinner came to the defense of Jesus against his hate-filled partner who also hung on his own beam. His words echo in our hearts in (Luk 23:42-43 KJV) And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. (43) And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Who else but JESUS would even consider such a remarkable and merciful blessing? WHO?

The word MERCY appears 261 times in our Bible. There is MERCY through GRACE. Grace, an unearned GIFT directly from HE who made us! There is MERCY earned and deserved, and certainly, we have a whole pile of MERCY that is UNDESERVED! How can We know, for certain, which belongs to us, individually? We go to HIS WORD recorded in Holy Scripture.

Most Bibles have a concordance in the back of the book. When you have the chance, turn to your concordance and search for the word MERCY. You should find a pretty good list of verses that apply to MERCY. Lets take a look at what I found:

(Gen 39:21 KJV) But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. When Joseph was little, his brothers were jealous of him, and sold Joseph into slavery. Now, Years later, a woman attempted to beguile him but he refused. She said He attacked her and he ended up in prison. True Mercy deserved would soon arrive for Joseph.

(Exo 20:6/25:17 KJV) And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments./ And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. This is the ARK of the COVENANT.

(1Ch 16:34 KJV) O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

(Psa 9:13 KJV) Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:

(Psa 145:8 KJV) The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

(Isa 30:18 KJV) And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

(Isa 54:8 KJV) In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.

(Jas 3:17 KJV) But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be in treated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

SUMMARY

We could stay here and follow the MERCY Train till well past 4 p.m. That is the sheer volume of events of God's infinite MERCY rendered to HIS creation.

(Ezr 9:13-14 NKJV) And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such deliverance as this, (14) should we again break Your commandments, and join .... with the people committing these abominations? Would You not be angry with us until You had consumed us, so that there would be no remnant or survivor? { Ezr 9:13-14 NKJV}

WHO in the world is Ezra referring to in this missive? {You didn't know that there would be a test here at the end, huh?} Who are these people who have a long record of failing to obey by coloring OUTSIDE the lines?

The SINNERS are us! You and me. We all are infected with this tendency to SIN. There are no exceptions. The only cure, the only door to Heaven, the only answer and resolution is through JESUS our Savior! Let us now bow our heads in a prayer of THANKSGIVING for the blood and breath that HE gave on that CROSS up on CALVARY!

CLOSING PRAYER

O' My LORD, Father and Son, Holy Spirit, it remains difficult to find words in our language that carry the enormous power to describe our humble accolades and praises for that which You have given through Grace, through Love, and by showing undeserved MERCY to us, the products of Your creation. We are Yours, Fully, Faithfully, and Forever. Praise You Lord and Praise you Jesus, AMEN and AMEN

SUNDAY MESSAGE

"FAITH, LOVE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS"

1 Pet 1:8/Jer 23:6

[Sing to the Lord, lift up your voices]

OPENING PRAYER

What a blessing and privilege it is O' FATHER, to be gathered together in this congregation of fellowship to worship and grow through Your Holy Word. Take our hand, Lord, show us and grow us, teach us and reach us as Holy Scripture maps our journey forward, in Christ Jesus, AMEN.

MESSAGE

In the months before the birth of my own son, our first born, there was an anxious anticipation to hear his first healthy cry. And cry he did! It is not hard to realize that we, his mom and dad, truly loved him, even before he was born, before we saw what he looked like. Unseen, our love sprouted for this tiny, helpless human. The birth of Jesus brought forth these same emotions between Joseph and Mary. Being so very much in love with that which had not yet been seen. {1Pe 1:8 NKJV}

We embrace these "Pre" emotions about LOVE and expectation through a thing called FAITH. (2Co 5:7 NKJV)- For we walk by faith, not by sight. FAITH is a very strong belief in something or someone that we cannot see, yet we know fully that it or they are real. We cannot see wind, but we can see the effects in the trees. We LOVE Jesus although we cannot physically see HIM presently, HOWEVER, we certainly are witness to HIS current presence in all that we see all around us everywhere.

(1Jn 4:19 NKJV)- We love Him because He first loved us. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. {1Jn 4:16 NKJV}

If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; according to {1Jn 4:20-21 NKJV}; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? (21) And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

Thus far we have connected the celestial dots linking FAITH and LOVE. (Jer 23:6 NKJV)- In His days, [Says the Lord], Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

(Isa 64:6 NKJV)- But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.

(Psa 71:16 NKJV)- Tells us; I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. {Isa 61:10 NKJV}

SUMMARY

Luk 15:21-22 NKJV And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.' (22) "But the father [a RIGHTEOUS man] said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like he, for once he was lost, and now is found, was blind and now he sees!

Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready." (8) And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. {Rev 19:7-8 NKJV}

The Apostle Paul speaks to us in (Php 3:8-9 NKJV)- Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ (9) and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith.

FAITH, LOVE, RIGHTEOUSNESS.

These words bring to my mind three higher words; FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT. What a great and HALLOWED GOD we have!

CLOSING PRAYER

As we go our way this week, and all weeks, grant us extra helpings of FAITH, LOVE, and RIGHTEOUSNESS. Open doors to opportunities where we might share what we have learned with others who remain thirsty for His knowledge, and purpose. Most of all Lord, fill us so full of LOVE that we will be compelled to give it all away to others, in the name of Jesus, we pray, AMEN

OPENING PRAYER

Thank-You, Almighty God, Creator of the universe and all within it. Thank-You Lord for gathering us together in congregation and worship on this Holy day. Open our eyes, ears and souls to Your message composed in the celestial plain high above through The Son Jesus the Christ, AMEN

MESSAGE

Linda and I often pray pleadings of thanksgiving to our Lord. We are so very blessed. We, as a nation, are seen as extremely wealthy and fortunate to have the freedoms we enjoy today. We have substantial roofs over our heads. Clothing to wear. Food to eat. Medicines to take! Our senior bodies make cute little noises when we move about! We owe a huge debt to our Creator for blessing every beat of our hearts well before our birth. Every breath, every thought, every dream. All made possible through The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

We sometimes forget how much we changed when we first met JESUS; opening our heart, mind and soul to Him. Confessing out loud that HE is who HE is and then believing truly that HE IS all that HE IS! Believing in Him deeply with every fiber of our being.

Our confession was a precious moment when we allowed the little child in us to come out. To believe as a child believes. During that process we learned FAITH. Each of us being witness to the miracle of our own SALVATION through GRACE alone, through FAITH alone, in CHRIST alone, according to Holy Scripture, all for the Glory of God alone, and filled with the HOLY SPIRIT. We experienced this awesome event first hand, in person. We all were there!

Once upon a time, there was a former self, the OLD YOU. The record shows that you were known as a good person. Honest, helpful, fair minded, loyal. Others liked you. Despite all the things you were involved in, the giving of your time, the tender moments when your actions made a big difference to another, even a stranger. Something was missing. A part of you was unfulfilled, empty, still sinning! Try as you might, nothing measured up that would fill that void. Then you met JESUS. The first of your personal HALLELUJAH moments overwhelmed you. More would follow.

SALVATION is a very big deal! You have been made a citizen of the Kingdom of Almighty GOD! This citizenship is ETERNAL.

(Php 3:20-21 NKJV) For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, (21) who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

When Jesus drew His last earthly breath on that Old Cross, He took with Himself, all of our prior sins, releasing us from the original sentence of eternal death handed down from Adam's great sin. He took our place with the executioner.

(1Jn 3:2 NASB) Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.

The prophet Ezekiel was introduced to the Kingdom of God and appeared, in the spirit, in God's very presence.

(Eze 1:25-28 NKJV) A voice came from above the firmament that was over their heads; whenever they [the seraphim] stood, they let down their wings. (26) And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it. (27) Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around. (28) Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. So when I saw it, [said Ezekiel] I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking.

(Eze 2:1-4 NKJV) And He said to me, "Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak to you." (2) Then the Spirit entered me when He spoke to me, and set me on my feet; and I heard Him who spoke to me. (3) And He said to me: "Son of man, I am sending you to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day. (4) For they are impudent and stubborn children. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD.' Ezekiel went and spoke as ordered. Did they listen?

We don't know what style of body we will have, (2Co 3:18 NASB) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Remember in (Gen 1:26-27 KJV) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: (27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

SUMMARY

As a CITIZEN in the Kingdom of God TIME will no longer be of value, nor as a chain tying us to schedules and appointments. No more TIMEX or SMART WATCHES!

(Rev 7:16-17 NASB) "[We] will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on [us], nor any heat; (17) for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be [our] shepherd, and will guide [us] to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from [our] eyes."

This is Celestial Citizenship for those who answered the knock on the door of our hearts and invited JESUS to come in. To be our SAVIOR, our LORD, Almighty God!

We are saved by GRACE alone, {Sola Gratia}, Through FAITH alone, {Sola Fide}, In CHRIST alone, {Solus Christus}, According to HOLY SCRIPTURE alone, {Sola Scriptura}, All for the glory of GOD alone, {Soli DEO Gloria}.

CLOSING PRAYER

Almighty Father, Precious Son Jesus, Holy Spirit, we bow before You with great reverence and humility. Your Grace through the Gift of salvation cannot be weighed, nor measured as it is divine and of Your will and to us, unearned. We bow before You with thanksgiving and eternal Love for the gift of Celestial Citizenship, in the name of Jesus the Christ, amen and AMEN.
