WOMEN/ MOTHERS AND HOLY SCRIPTURE

OPENING PRAYER

Wondrous Creator of the Universe, Almighty GOD, with great humility we gather on this Holy day to Worship and grow through Your Word, as recorded in Holy Scripture. By Your grace open our ears and souls to the frequency of Your Message. Grant us understanding of Your ways and Will, thru Jesus the Christ, AMEN.

MESSAGE

Eleven years ago on this day, Mother's Day, while performing Hospice duties as a new Chaplain, a Beacon staff member asked me if I could fill in delivering a Godly message to residents gathered in the dining room, around the piano. The staff member said that the older couple that had been filling that role for quite some time, and would likely not return due to their advancing age. I said that I would give it a try.

As the words were coming out of my mouth, my mind was uttering a quiet but serious prayer to the Lord. Lord, God, said my mind in prayer, I have no idea of what to do, please guide me in Your loving Light. As a kid I certainly watched a bunch of messages being delivered while sitting in a church pew! Father, Lord Jesus, teach me, reach me, show me and grow me because....I have not done this before!

There were a few Baptist Hymnals available and that is what we used to sing opening and closing hymns a cappella. The four of us selected The Old Rugged Cross to open, and In the Garden to close. The Message was MOTHERS DAY and the Bible. There were three precious Beacon residents present. It was The Lord who gave me words that day. It was the Lord who picked the Hymns, and it was The Lord who opened the door and Lighted the pathway leading all these years to this very moment today!

The Holy Spirit gave me just what I needed, exactly at the moment it was needed, and not a second earlier. To this day I cannot recall all of the words He gave me to speak, But I do remember Robert Smith, who returned the following week with four more residents. Robert said to me, "If you are going to preach, you need to get some real music". He was right and We did!

That was then, and here we are gathered together with love in our hearts.

On this Holy Day, let us start at the beginning: Gen 2:7-8 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. (8) The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed.

God began teaching the man how to care for the garden and he started off pretty good. After a while, God noticed some of the risky things Man was doing. Examples in Today's time might be; the strapping one ladder to another to make it taller, not turning off the electricity before messing with an outlet. I know that the women of today have witnessed these things with good frequency. Its also why women outlive men, FIVE-TO-ONE.

Someone once said "The Lord determined that MAN should not be alone, and would benefit by having ADULT SUPERVISION." As Paul Harvey once announced on the radio: The solution was simple...God made a woman.

Lets follow this logic a little further; Man was made from the earth, also known as DIRT. Woman was made from the man. Woman was not made from the dirt, she was made with flesh and blood which God removed in a rib supplied by Man and HE [God] then made a woman from the rib!

Over thousands of years, man and woman complemented and compensated each other a weakness in the flesh. A singular person could become one with the other and give strength to the other. Being husband and wife, God truly united both into into one flesh, with little daylight between them.

Many small ministries having been led by women who are naturally benevolent and nurturing in nature: God provided these gifts long before woman was formed. She and her husband would complement each other through these precious talents and interests as part of their very being. Where one might be weak, the other became strong.

Pro 31:20 She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. So do men, however, the males are more direct and course in their benevolence, whereas the woman is more often tender and patient in her actions. The man often uses three words to circumscribe their intercessions and contributions; Safety not always initially being a consideration! Just "GIT-R-DONE!"

The question of this day to you is this; Who were some of the most notable women and mothers in Biblical history? I'm glad you asked. I just happen to have a list. Don't you just LOVE lists?

SUNDAY MESSAGE

"THE TIME IS SHORT"

1 Cor 7:29

OPENING PRAYER

Sovereign Creator, Master of all that there is, thank-You for gathering us in congregation...to worship and to grow in Your Word on this holy day. Where two or more are gathered in Your name, scripture tells us that You are in our midst. Lord, You are always welcomed and we are humbled to be Your people. Grant us open ears, hearts and souls as we receive Your message in the name of Jesus the Christ, AMEN

MESSAGE

Just as it is written in {I COR. 7:29}, "Brothers and Sisters, the time is short."

"Man who is born of woman Is of few days and full of trouble. (2) He comes forth like a flower and fades away; He flees like a shadow and does not continue." {Job 14:1-2} This verse, "Man who is born of woman Is of few days and full of trouble." is sometimes misunderstood. Depending on the audience, JOB 14 can be a conversation STARTER, or, it has been known to trigger a CONVERSATION ENDER!.

A male speaking to a female audience might well opine that back in Adam's time period, it was the woman who was first to eat the forbidden fruit! Therefore, SIN was ushered in through the woman. SHAME ON HER! Here we see a MALE starting the conversation, and we also see the FEMALE audience bringing the discussion to a screeching halt!

Lets set the record straight. It was Adam who received the commandment directly from God. It was also Adam who communicated God's order to Eve but Adam did not deliver the message exactly as God gave it to him. He added the "Don't even touch the fruit" that God did not say. Eve was deceived by the serpent, and by eating of the fruit she sinned. Adam had the greater sin in that he was present during the serpent's dialog with Eve, but did not lift a finger to stop her, in fact when Eve offered the same fruit to Adam, He gobbled it right up! They both sinned, but the greater rested on Adam, who was not deceived, and we all inherited the same nasty sin-laden-bug and the sentence of eternal agonizing death.

Here we are today in the year AD 2026 and nearly 5,526 years ago SIN INFECTED US and the world [today] is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. {1Jn 2:17} The will of God is to hold on to what you have, and continue to share the Gospel message.

Originally Adam and his bride were pure and innocent; living in a pure and innocent garden. It was perfect. That is until they disobeyed the FIRST COMMAND of the Lord God. At the very moment that the fruit was taken into the body, the seed of sin infected all those who were born from that moment onward. Everyone coming into the world infected; we are sinners from birth!

{-cf:1Co 15:20-24}-- But now Christ has been born, a sin free birth, fully man, fully God. His own was instrumental in His crucifixion, death and burial. On the third day He was raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have long been asleep. (21) For since by a man came death, by another man also came the resurrection of the dead. (22) For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. (23) But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ's at His coming, (24) then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.

I always wondered how those who were born way before Jesus could find salvation through His death. Even though He had not yet been born of the flesh. Now we know.

Whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.--To live is Christ, and to die is gain. {Rom 14:8}

SUMMARY

(Heb 10:35-37) Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. (36) For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. (37) FOR YET IN A VERY LITTLE WHILE, HE WHO IS COMING WILL COME, AND WILL NOT DELAY. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

(1Pe 4:7-8) The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. (8) Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

I now close this message with the very words of Jesus found in the 1st chapter of the Revelation of Jesus Christ; Rev 1:8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." COME QUICKLY, O' LORD!

CLOSING PRAYER

SUNDAY MESSAGE

"THEIR REDEEMER IS STRONG"

Jer 50:34

OPENING PRAYER

Ever righteous and Holy Lord, we thank-You for gathering us together in congregation so that we may hear Your message, Your Word, Your guidance on this Holy day. Permit the Bible to come alive in our minds and remove the vail that we might see the majesty of Your being, in Jesus we pray, AMEN

MESSAGE

The Book of Jeremiah is where we anchor on this Holy day. The year is 575 BC and the prophet Jeremiah is communicating a warning that God's judgment against Babylon and Babylonia is now at hand.

Here in chapter 50, verse 34 we read this condensed version of Jeremiah's message and what Babylon will soon face;

{Jer 50:34 nasb} --"Their Redeemer is strong, the LORD of hosts is His name; He will vigorously plead their case So that He may bring rest to the earth, But turmoil to the inhabitants of Babylon."

Time and time again, throughout Biblical history, God's chosen people vacillate back and forth from belief and and obedience then return to rebellion and evil.

As the minor prophet{Amo 5:12}nasb For I know your transgressions are many and your sins are great, You who distress the righteous and accept bribes And turn aside the poor in the gate.

When God has had enough of the rebellion, He often will "GIVE THEM OVER" to those who would enslave or kill them. God would allow the enemies to win the battles, causing His cherished people to suffer for their collective back-sliding, for turning their back and turning away from the Lord! Back and forth, over and over again. DO WE EVER LEARN?

Here are the TOP SEVEN enemies of God's people forged early in Genesis, Chapter 10. Number 1: The Hittites, #2 The Girgasites, #3 The Amorites, #4 The Canaanites, #5 The Perizzites, #6 The Hivites, and Number Seven; The Jebusites. These were the current occupants of the promised land that God had given the Israelites who were led by Moses and now the Lord would dislocate them and give this promised land to them.

In {Psa 89:18-26}nasb Ethan the Ezrahite composes a song of contemplation called a Maskil. Such a psalm is often used to impart wisdom or to teach, or for meditation;

(18) For our shield belongs to the LORD, And our king to the Holy One of Israel.

(19) Once You spoke in vision to Your godly ones, And said, "I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people. (20) "I have found David My servant; With My holy oil I have anointed him, (21) With whom My hand will be established; My arm also will strengthen him.

(22) "The enemy will not deceive him, Nor the son of wickedness afflict him. (23) "But I shall crush his adversaries before him, And strike those who hate him.

(24) "My faithfulness and My lovingkindness will be with him, And in My name his horn will be exalted.

(25) "I shall also set his hand on the sea And his right hand on the rivers. (26) "He will cry to Me, 'You are my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.'

The Author of this Psalm also delivered a significant messianic prophesy through the SONG. The Hidden Message is: OUR REDEEMER IS STRONG!

Here in Isa 49:26 we witness how the Lord deals with severe oppression from it's enemies: I caution you, it is not a pleasant thing to suffer at the hand of almighty God; {The Lord is speaking} "I will feed your oppressors with their own flesh, And they will become drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine; And all flesh will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob."

A bit later in Isa 63:1-4 we join a group of observers watching the approach of a stranger into their midst; Who is this who comes from Edom, With garments of glowing colors from Bozrah, This One who is majestic in His apparel, Marching in the greatness of His strength? "It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save." (2) Why is Your apparel red, And Your garments like the one who treads in the wine press? (3) "I have trodden the wine trough alone, And from the peoples there was no man with Me. I also trod them in My anger And trampled them in My wrath; And their lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments, And I stained all My raiment. (4) "For the day of vengeance was in My heart, And My year of redemption has come.

OUR REDEEMER IS STRONG!

As John describes in Joh 3:18-19, "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (19) "This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil."

Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. {Heb 7:25}

OUR REDEEMER IS STRONG!

" Why was there no man when I came? [says the LORD], When I called, why was there none to answer? Is My hand so short that it cannot ransom? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, I dry up the sea with My rebuke, I make the rivers a wilderness; Their fish stink for lack of water And die of thirst." {Isa 50:2}

Many of the psalms have been hymns and used during travels and for temple praise and holy purposes. They are also ready-made prayers for our use. Over the years, the melodies used to support these songs of praise and or prophesy have been lost. Such a shame. I would have loved to hear the actual melody that supports the words and the prayers! How about you?

SUMMARY

Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (36) Just as it is written, "FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED." ...(38) For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, (39) nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. {Rom 8:35-39}

As we wrap up this Holy day, commit yourself Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, (25) to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. {Jud 1:24-25}nasb

CLOSING PRAYER

Almighty God, You are our Strong Redeemer. Although our faith is strong, we need to apply this faith to every part of our lives while remembering that all glory is Yours and Yours alone. We love You with all of our heart, mind, and soul through Jesus the Christ, Our King, Our Redeemer, AMEN
